Dak Prescott A Cowboy For Life

00:00 Jerry Jones has said that he quote unquote expects Dak Prescott to be a cowboy for a long time.
00:07 Now how does this get done realistically? And you speak Jerry Jones, what did you make of it?
00:12 Yeah, cowboy for life is how we like to term it. Dak now is 30 and so to have a six-year extension
00:20 that takes Dak to age 36, that's pretty much cowboy for life. The cloud hanging over their heads
00:28 that they're all aware of, they're not uncomfortable with it, but next year he's got a 59 million
00:33 dollar cap hit. That just won't play and they know that, both sides know that. That's good for nobody.
00:39 That doesn't mean he gets 59 million dollars, otherwise he might say, "I'm good, it's the cap
00:45 gets 59 dollars." I believe we're going to wake up, roll out of bed one morning and it's going to be
00:50 done and there will be a massive extension. Now does he move from 40 million a year to 50, 55?
00:58 I don't know. More, does he make a little bit of a compromise to help the Cowboys cap-wise overall?
01:06 There's other quarterbacks obviously who have done that, but this has moved now from an off-season
01:12 priority to an in-season priority and Jerry and Dak are okay with it. Dak says, "I trust the Cowboys
01:19 front office just like I trust my own agent to get this done. We're going to roll out of bed one of
01:23 these days and it's going to be done." And hopefully it won't become such a thing, you know what I mean?
01:27 If they can just get it done, not have to be up against a deadline, maybe that will be a little
01:33 bit less of a media circus. The thing that the media circus part that you'll never get away from,
01:37 it's still going to be 40 million dollars or 50 million dollars or whatever and until the Cowboys
01:43 win big, and maybe even when they do, somebody's still going to make an issue out of that.
01:48 And that makes the Cowboys unique in a way. Nobody's doing this with the other big money
01:52 quarterbacks who haven't won Super Bowls either. Herbert hasn't won a Super Bowl,
01:58 Deshaun Watson hasn't won a Super Bowl, Lamar Jackson hasn't won a Super Bowl,
02:02 Joe Burrow hasn't won, Josh Allen, there's a lot of guys that haven't won a Super Bowl.
02:08 This guy is getting paid and all those guys will be getting paid in the same class.
02:14 Whoever does climb up and on top of the pile, we need to get off his back in terms of Dak hate,
02:20 or Josh hate, or Joe hate, or whoever it is that you foolishly choose to hate through your TV screen.
