00:03 - If anyone can explain to me why they got SMU,
00:06 I'll digest that because I'm sick of hearing about,
00:09 well, they wanted the Dallas market.
00:11 That's like saying they wanted New York City for Rutgers.
00:15 When, let me tell you how many people in New York City
00:17 care about Rutgers.
00:19 That's a zero.
00:21 - I compare it more to when the Atlantic 10 expanded
00:28 into New York by getting Fordham.
00:31 There's just not the interest in Fordham basketball.
00:35 I'm sorry, I got friends that went there.
00:38 It's a fine university, but the basketball program
00:41 was not up to Atlantic 10 standards then or now.
00:45 And you look at going all that way.
00:48 Look, I love San Francisco.
00:50 I've never had a bad experience there.
00:52 I've been there many times and really enjoyed myself,
00:56 but I don't think that's a reason why you go that far.
00:59 - Right.
00:59 - Like I said, Memphis is basically geographic.
01:05 It's geographically adjacent.
01:07 The basketball program draws well.
01:10 Did you see the attendance figures that I had
01:12 for the Stanford and Cal basketball programs?
01:15 Stanford was 130th in division one attendance
01:19 and they were better than Cal.
01:21 Cal was like 180.
01:23 Cal was down there fighting with Sienna
01:25 to climb the attendance ranking.
01:28 - They drew 2000 a game for Cal basketball.
01:32 - It takes three, three Kentucky home games.
01:36 - Stanford 35.
01:37 - Three Kentucky home games are more than Stanford got
01:40 for their entire home schedule.
01:43 That's what you're expanding toward.
01:44 It doesn't make any sense.
01:46 Expand or die, whoever wrote that first.
01:49 And there are people out there who've written that.
01:51 They were so wrong.
01:53 They missed the entire boat on this.
01:55 It was, this was a massive mistake.
01:58 It's not gonna do anything at all for the ACC
02:02 except make their competitions in the major sports worse.
02:06 And it's really going to hurt them
02:07 come NCAA tournament time
02:09 in terms of getting teams into the field.
