The Court of Appeal heard on Tuesday (Sept 5) that there was no direct evidence that showed Samirah Muzaffar and two teenagers murdered Cradle Fund chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan.

Counsel Rahmat Mohamed Hazlan, representing the three, said the learned High Court judge rightfully found that the prosecution’s reliance on the "last-seen” theory was merely based on an assumption which did not amount to proof.

00:59 Meanwhile, the Court of Appeal will hear further submission on September 19.
01:04 In June 2022, the Shah Alam High Court acquitted and discharged Samira and the two teenagers
01:09 after finding that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against them.
01:15 Following this, the Attorney-General's Chamber then filed a Notice of Appeal against the
01:19 High Court's decision in acquitting the three on the murder charge.
