00:00 I've never been in it.
00:02 All it's just a snowstorm.
00:04 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:06 >> What y'all doing right now?
00:08 What y'all doing right now?
00:11 >> We're still out practicing.
00:12 We're still here after it.
00:13 So work goes on.
00:15 Doesn't matter what the day is.
00:17 >> What day, what time did you work here?
00:21 >> I got here at the facility about 1230, 1 o'clock.
00:24 >> How do you feel like the camp is going for you?
00:29 What have you learned about yourself?
00:31 What have you learned about your team?
00:32 >> I've learned that this team is fierce, competitive, more than not.
00:36 Personally, myself, I got to learn a lot about myself and
00:39 growing individually as a player, but also as a leader, more importantly.
00:43 So one thing about this team is that we are relentless.
00:46 Every single day is a fight.
00:47 That's what I really felt.
00:49 >> What's the analogy about LSU's front seven?
00:52 >> Yeah, I think that the front seven is kind of the one that's going to hurt you.
00:57 And more importantly, the back end is really good as well.
01:00 The front seven, Makai Wingo up front, he's a guy now, he's a dude.
01:04 So obviously with Harold Perkins, space, and with the linebacker crew,
01:08 those two guys are kind of like the back end.
01:12 So I think that more importantly, they push the cock in right up front,
01:16 two-hand strike, everything, whatnot.
01:17 So they're good players up front.
01:19 >> How do you feel about studying those guys and
01:24 trying to see how they're gonna play?
01:29 >> I mean, obviously you gotta watch their previous institution, but
01:32 also you gotta watch what they're teaching them now and
01:35 what they're teaching them from last year's LSU home, their D-Month home.
01:38 You gotta teach what they're being coached and what they're going to be coached.
01:40 And obviously you gotta watch what they're previously doing from their previous
01:43 institution as well.
01:44 That's more important than anything.
01:45 >> How excited are you just about this game?
01:51 No shade to your former school, but y'all didn't play in a ton of games like this.
01:56 What is that gonna be like for you?
01:58 >> Well, one thing about it is that I play a lot of football.
02:00 >> Sure. >> And so I think the crowd is one thing,
02:03 but tuning in to what the details are, pre-snap,
02:06 details are, that's essentially the biggest thing.
02:09 Just 90,000, 60,000, 70,000, doesn't really matter at the end of the day.
02:13 You have to lock in to who's in front of you,
02:15 what your specific details are for that snap.
02:18 So playing in front of a crowd is obviously exciting.
02:21 But at the end of the day,
02:21 you still have to focus on what you have to do to set up the team.
02:26 That's my main goal going into that snap.
02:28 >> You mentioned the focus.
02:29 It's been a game we play on Sunday, it's gonna be a weird big game on ESPN,
02:34 a 10-1 game.
02:35 And then on top of that, you had the hurricane.
02:37 So how hard is it for you to keep the focus and speed for the team?
02:40 And what have you guys done to make sure you stay focused?
02:42 >> Well, one thing about it is that the workday is the worst at the end of the day.
02:45 Regardless of what the scenarios are, you have to adapt to it.
02:47 So that's what I think this team does a really good job of,
02:49 is adapting to whatever happens to it.
02:51 Even if we have a bad play during the team period,
02:54 we gotta bounce back and get right back to it.
02:57 So it doesn't matter what the outside noise is.
02:59 We understand as a team what we have to do to ensure success.
03:02 >> Who's the player that you had to bring back to that one-way drive?
03:05 >> Going up against the defense of line, right?
03:08 I mean, they're all pretty good.
03:09 Who are the tough, tough dudes?
03:11 >> Kawhi Wingo, he's the dude.
03:13 >> No, I mean on your team.
03:14 Sorry, didn't you already have a Kawhi Wingo?
03:16 >> Braden Fitch.
03:17 Braden Fitch is the guy now.
03:18 He's a dude.
03:19 Braden Fitch, now having Fabian Leatherback getting to go against a team
03:22 rep to be on the team has been really awesome.
03:23 Darryl Jackson, obviously, love to see him play.
03:28 So having him going against him during every day has been optimal for
03:33 the successful arms of the line.
03:35 Guys like Briggs, man.
03:37 Each and every single one of our defense alignment players.
03:39 So it's really nice to go against these guys every single day and
03:41 get the game-like speed from each individual.
03:45 >> What was it like going for the speed and getting the right foot in the first round?
03:49 >> You have to be kind of passive when you go for a first time.
03:51 You read it out for a second.
03:53 Second time you gotta go aggressive.
03:55 Fabian, he's really tough with his hands.
03:57 Good initial quickness, good initial first step as well.
03:59 So I think Fabian, man, he's gonna be a first round draft,
04:04 second round draft, somewhere up there.
04:06 So going against him every single day has been essential for all of us.
04:11 >> You've had a long time now with Alex Adkins and
04:14 working with the other guys on either side of the wood set process.
04:19 >> I think it's a day-to-day process.
04:20 Now we're kind of getting more of the fine tuning of everything,
04:23 spring ball and then the initial part of the fall camp was more so
04:27 the getting work with Rob Scott, getting work with Wes Harris,
04:31 J.B. Jeremiah, whoever the tackle is at that point.
04:34 Just understanding this is how they play.
04:36 If I play an aggressive here, he can lean back and I can come help him and whatnot.
04:40 So the little details of how they play is essential.
04:43 So we're gonna coach Adkins and working with each and every offensive line,
04:46 working with Moe, working with Darius.
04:49 It's a blessing because you get to learn different playing styles and
04:51 you can also adapt to certain people's playing styles as well.
04:55 But at the end of the day, our job is to open up holes and protect.
04:58 So whoever five is out there, we're deemed to do that.
05:01 >> Continuity is a big thing.
05:04 >> No doubt, absolutely.
05:05 Continuity is everything.
05:06 At the end of the day, it's all five.
05:09 We're not rotating that mid-drive, so it's all five of us for one drive.
05:14 >> Do you feel like coming on, that the continuity,
05:17 the working with these guys, the communication?
05:19 >> I do, I do.
05:20 I do.
05:21 I think more importantly that has been riding practice since the beginning of
05:26 fall camp.
05:27 So communication is one thing, but
05:29 being able to move as one solid unit has helped us in our success.
05:35 >> What's been your favorite part of this football?
05:36 >> I mean, you're gonna watch the entire field.
05:40 >> Practice, practice and everything.
05:42 That's what sets us apart.
05:44 That's the edge.
05:45 That's what creates the Florida State.
05:47 Essentially, what you see on Saturdays isn't a mirror image of what's going on
05:51 there.
05:52 It's a mirror image of what happened five days, ten days before that when we were
05:55 practicing.
05:56 So practice definitely is something I look forward to every day.
05:59 >> All colleges think they practice hard.
06:01 All college football teams think they practice hard.
06:04 And all of them say nobody's working harder than us.
06:06 Why is that true?
06:08 You've played a lot of football.
06:09 You've been around a lot of it.
06:10 What makes this so unique?
06:12 >> This intensity.
06:13 This is different.
06:14 You wanna work, you gotta come here.
06:16 If you wanna sweat, you wanna bleed, you're gonna come here and
06:19 you're gonna get very successful.
06:20 I feel like me as an individual, I've grown within my mental aspect,
06:24 physical aspect, and in a multitude of aspects of my life.
06:28 I've grown coming here and being able to practice with this team is a lot.
06:33 >> You feel good?
06:36 >> Thanks.
06:36 >> Thank you, Casey.
06:37 >> Appreciate it.
06:38 >> Thanks, Casey.
