00:00 It's just, it's a team goal and a team success.
00:03 It's just about me.
00:04 So anytime I get to put my teammates like Jad Virch,
00:07 cuz he'll be a big part of why I blocked it.
00:10 Him and KP, I'll get them what they brought.
00:12 So I don't really mind, but it's every time somebody get a chance, they ask me.
00:17 >> You guys blocked one today, right?
00:18 >> Yeah, we blocked one today.
00:19 Me and Jad Virch, we got pushed and
00:22 the ball hit one of those linemen in the back of the head.
00:24 So we're gonna count it.
00:25 Don't go to the other, right?
00:26 So it's on us.
00:28 >> Yeah.
00:30 >> I guess having talked about that last year,
00:33 that was your game, you had a bigger role now than in the ski test.
00:37 How much have you improved since that game?
00:40 >> I feel like I done improved way to a whole nother level.
00:44 My odds done got right.
00:45 I'm more consistent.
00:47 I'm playing faster.
00:48 So and then that's a year ago.
00:51 So if you don't get better in a year, then Florida State ain't the place for you.
00:55 And you probably wouldn't see me right here in the right line if I didn't get better.
00:58 So I feel I done got a lot better.
01:00 My teammates push me every day to just be that consistent guy for
01:03 them on the back end.
01:04 So I think I 100% done got better.
01:08 >> I mentioned your eyes getting better.
01:11 When you get to quarterback, again, just like getting to Daniels,
01:14 how important is it to keep your eyes on him,
01:17 especially when he's gonna scramble and do different things?
01:19 >> It's very important cuz they often, they do a lot of motions, shifts.
01:23 So you gotta really be locked in on your play call, your assignment, your technique.
01:27 So and then he run a lot.
01:29 So we really gotta be dialed in, put our face in the, put our trust in the D line for
01:34 them to do their job so my eyes not really gonna be on him.
01:38 So it's just that right there.
01:39 >> How much of that has just come in this fall camp?
01:45 >> I say I got to perfect it for our camp cuz
01:50 summertime we really like we got contact.
01:55 We're not in pads and that so it's really just like walk through tempo.
01:59 With fall camp you get pads, you get to put your hands on people.
02:02 So I feel like most of it, if not all of it came from fall camp,
02:06 just taking that process day by day.
02:08 >> Did your family come through the school?
02:10 >> Yeah, they're good.
02:12 I talked to my mama a little bit yesterday.
02:13 She just was like, they ain't have no power.
02:15 But growing up, that's how it was, though.
02:18 The wind could just be blowing, the power gonna go out, but
02:21 everybody's straight at home.
02:23 >> What was it like to have this week where it's game week, but
02:27 it's a little different than Sunday game, but now that you had the hurricane,
02:29 it's like, how's the team keeping focused?
02:33 >> Well, the sun out, so when the sun out, we out.
02:36 And we're not really worried about no hurricane, but we feel like it's,
02:40 we live in Florida, so weather is bipolar up here.
02:45 But we just ready, man.
02:47 We just ready to play, man.
02:48 It's been a long time since we've been out on that field together, and
02:50 we're just trying to put on a showcase for America.
02:53 Show them what we can do and what we gonna do.
02:57 >> We were talking to Jarrion, and he was saying how far the whole program's come
03:00 since he's been here.
03:02 How far has it come since you got here?
03:05 >> Real far.
03:06 I mean, it's just opposite.
03:08 When I first got here, you could just tell stuff needed to be changed.
03:12 And Novell, Coach Novell did a good job doing that,
03:16 with the players he brought in.
03:17 And then he put a big emphasis and a role on us to make sure the newcomers,
03:22 they get ready for our standard here.
03:26 So I say we just more together, and I love this team.
03:32 What y'all finna see is finna be special.
03:35 >> And how much do you enjoy leading these young freshmen?
03:37 Cuz you got some talented freshman DBs, right?
03:40 >> Yeah, I love it, but it's hard at sometimes.
03:43 But I understand it cuz I was young at the time, and I was in their position.
03:46 So anytime I try to get to help them, I try.
03:49 Like today, I had to get on the one-on today.
03:53 But we're gonna be good, they're gonna be good.
03:55 I be telling them all the time, it come with time, they're gonna be good.
03:58 But I like our freshmen.
03:59 The more they're ready to work, if they mess up, they're gonna try to get it right.
04:03 So I got a lot of faith in those young guys.
04:06 >> Speaking about the leadership, what's given you the confidence to step
04:09 into that position, cuz we see you and your brother talking sidelines,
04:13 yelling instructions at them for guys to get the coverages and
04:15 talking to them, having a good night.
04:17 What's given you that confidence?
04:19 >> Just I want my brothers to win, that's it.
04:22 If they not winning, I feel like I'm not winning.
04:24 If I mess up, I feel like I done let them down.
04:27 So that's all that just come from, wanting my brothers to succeed, that's it.
04:32 >> How's Coach Sertan helped you in your development?
04:35 >> Real good.
04:36 He just want me to be me, man.
04:38 He just don't want me out there thinking about too much.
04:41 That's his emphasis on me every day, play fast.
04:43 And I really locked into that and he's really made me become a better safety,
04:48 a better, special teams even.
04:50 He be getting on me by special teams though.
04:52 When I ain't giving it my all, he's just pushing me and I felt like I needed that.
04:56 >> What are some of the keys to limiting your own responsiveness?
05:01 [BLANK_AUDIO]
05:05 >> Really just keeping five in the pocket, man, and scramble drills.
05:08 And I feel like our plan is real good right now with some of the stuff they
05:12 running.
05:13 It's just scramble drills when he can find get out the pocket sticking on our man,
05:16 having good eyes.
05:17 That's really it.
05:18 [BLANK_AUDIO]
05:21 >> You good?
05:22 >> Thanks for that.
05:22 >> Appreciate you.
05:23 >> Thank you.
