Senate deliberates on DOLE's proposed 2024 budget; lawmakers ask about wage hike

00:00 The Department of Labor and Employment presented their budget proposal for 2024 before the Senate today.

00:05 During the budget deliberations, the Dollar Chief was asked about the possibility of raising the minimum wage of workers

00:12 considering the present economic situation in the country.

00:15 But Secretary Bienvenido Laguasma explained such decision does not solely lie on the Labor's Department's judgment or discretion.

00:24 A petition for wage hike will have to be scrutinized first by a tripartite body.
