00:03 >> So, Renardo, now done with camp, what ways did you see your game
00:08 have to improve over this fall?
00:10 >> The details and just making more plays on the ball, helping my teammates out.
00:16 >> What have you seen among the secondary?
00:19 >> A lot of plays being made, being more technically sound,
00:25 understanding the defense better, and just being explosive, doing everything.
00:29 I feel coach put us through in the off season to make us bigger, stronger,
00:33 faster, utilizing that on the field through our camp.
00:36 >> I feel like a lot of the young DVs, the freshmen coming in,
00:40 have did that really well.
00:41 I guess how would you describe your growth that you see from them this fall?
00:46 >> The learning curve from high school to college is the game speeds up and
00:50 then the mental aspect also increases.
00:54 Those guys did a good job of coming in and
00:56 trying to grasp the concept the best that they could.
00:59 And they're physically gifted.
01:00 They're doing a lot of things that freshmen don't normally come and do or
01:03 be able to do as freshmen when it comes to physical gifts.
01:07 They're a nice group and they're gonna help contribute to the team this year and
01:11 for many more years to come.
01:12 >> You talked about Coach Sertain, what has he meant to you?
01:17 And what have you gained from him?
01:21 >> He's like a big brother.
01:23 He talks to us in a way that we understand,
01:27 cuz he was once a player, he did it at all levels.
01:31 He teaches us a lot about actually playing the position,
01:34 not just X's and O's, and that comes in handy for us.
01:38 He's been a great addition.
01:40 And all the guys, we got a mutual respect for him.
01:45 We know that he wants our best interest at heart and
01:47 we know that he's not gonna lead us in the wrong direction.
01:50 >> The perspective's earned since he's been here.
01:53 I mean, obviously his resume requires a lot of respect, but since he got here,
01:59 what's the- >> I said it, we work.
02:03 >> You know, his resume is excellent as far as playing and coaching.
02:09 But since he's been here, how has he built more respect in the room?
02:14 >> By just how he carry himself every day, how he come in and just coach us every day.
02:19 Like AZ, he stay on AZ cuz he know what AZ can be.
02:22 So he got expectations for all of us and standards for all of us,
02:27 and he puts us to those standards and expectations.
02:33 And we see the work ourselves.
02:34 He tell us this, do this, do this, so don't do it this way.
02:36 We go out there and apply it, go make the play.
02:38 So we can trust him.
02:40 It's like a mutual trust has been built up.
02:44 >> Does he help you with studying film and preparing for receivership?
02:50 >> Yeah, he played in the NFL, so he know the game in and out.
02:54 So he plays it like the resume speaks for itself.
02:56 So he helps us a lot in all aspects of football and off the field in real life.
03:02 He give us lessons, he just help us a lot.
03:05 He's a great addition.
03:06 >> Speaking of AZ, how much has he grown I guess so far?
03:11 >> When AZ first came in, he got all the athletic ability in the world, but
03:15 he was like a little clumsy deer out there.
03:17 But now he's got more control over his body.
03:21 He's taking a coaching from Coach Sertan and applying it,
03:26 the coaching from Coach Fuller.
03:28 He's learning the defense better, getting everything down,
03:31 learning the defense like the back of his hand.
03:34 AZ's made some major strides and big strides, and
03:37 he's also one that's gonna help the team this year and for years to come.
03:42 >> Turnovers have been a thing that I know you guys want a bit more of.
03:48 Is that something you can work on and develop, or you just take it as it comes?
03:54 >> We definitely could work on and develop.
03:57 We do work on it, we've been working on it more.
03:59 We know that we could make plays, we know we can run with the best of them.
04:03 We know a lot of things that we can do.
04:05 The next step in our game is getting the ball back to our offense.
04:09 If we can do that, that'll be huge and a big time for the team and
04:13 the secondary as a whole.
04:14 We work on that, we focus on that, so we're just gonna keep working and
04:17 focusing on it.
04:17 >> Going back to the young guys, the freshmen, I feel like there's a lot of
04:23 them, six of them, but I feel like there's a lot or
04:26 a few of them that could be definitely contributors this year, I guess.
04:29 Are there any to you, one or two maybe that especially stand out to you that
04:33 you feel like that guy's gonna be a good match for you this year?
04:36 >> When it comes to them guys, I don't single them guys out.
04:39 I just look at them as a whole in a group.
04:42 They all have their specific talents and things that they're really good in.
04:45 And our coaching staff does a good job of knowing how to utilize those guys to
04:49 their strengths, knowing how to help those guys with their weaknesses.
04:53 Those guys came in twitchy, strong.
04:57 They got a good mentality, next play mentality.
05:00 They came in like not normally how freshmen come in.
05:04 They still got that learning curve and learning hump to get over to, but
05:07 they can still play with us.
05:08 >> You're going back to Orlando, and you got a lot of family there,
05:14 friends there, what's that like for you?
05:17 >> I've been playing football down there since I was like five, so
05:20 it's just like a popcorner game again.
05:22 I mean, yeah, it's like a popcorner game.
05:25 When my time is done at FSU, I mean, I can say yeah, I played in Orlando twice.
05:29 And it was that, but I'm still only getting four tickets.
05:33 So, and I've been there all my life.
05:37 And Tallahassee is only like three and a half hours from there.
05:39 So I'm just really focused more on the game,
05:41 not more of the location or the outside factors.
05:45 >> Go on one.
05:46 >> You don't get any free time down there, do you?
05:52 >> Like when we go down there for the game, not really, we be on schedule.
05:57 I might have a little time to go talk in the lobby to my people that come see me
06:02 at the hotel, but other than that, we locked in on the game.
06:05 >> Are we good?
