00:00 >> We talked to you towards the beginning of the camp a few weeks ago.
00:05 How do you think you've improved since then?
00:07 >> Me personally, I just feel I get better every day throughout camp.
00:09 Just understanding, getting more, locking more in on the plays and
00:13 then understanding not only just the play, but what we're trying to do in the play.
00:16 So I just thought I've been doing a lot better job with that.
00:18 >> How close do you feel you are to where you guys came in?
00:25 [INAUDIBLE]
00:31 >> That's a good question.
00:32 I would just say, shoot, we don't know how close we is to September 3rd.
00:37 So we just gotta take it day by day, take every day,
00:39 just with the same mindset of just performing every day in practice.
00:42 And then you do that, you're gonna get better.
00:44 >> With Alex Adkins,
00:47 what are some of the things you've learned here at Florida State?
00:51 >> Say that one more time?
00:52 >> With now that you're here at Florida State, with Alex Adkins,
00:55 what are some of the things you've learned that have been important to you?
00:59 >> Trusting my technique when it comes to pass, bro.
01:02 Like understanding that I don't have to shoot early with my hands.
01:06 I understand that, be patient, see the defense, and just things like that.
01:10 Just like the little things in football is what I've learned the most here.
01:14 >> Does he spend time with you watching film?
01:18 >> Yeah, he spends time with everybody watching film.
01:19 Like as an O-line, we have, you come up, cuz we got three coaches, so
01:24 we got, anytime that you want, you can come up and watch film with any one of them.
01:26 They all take the same exact thing.
01:28 >> So you watch it as a group to work on continuity?
01:32 >> Yes, sir, always.
01:33 Always gotta watch it as a group.
01:34 We don't watch it as a group.
01:35 We're gonna have two, five people doing individual things, so.
01:38 >> What does that look like?
01:40 How does he run that meeting?
01:43 >> Shoot, it's a cutthroat meeting.
01:45 You ain't doing your job, he gonna tell you what it is, and that go for everybody.
01:48 Ain't no favorites in that meeting.
01:51 Whoever doing bad, he gonna let you know, and
01:52 if you're doing good, he gonna let you know, so.
01:54 But it's always improvement.
01:55 Like he always, if he telling you that you're bad, it's always a learning process.
01:58 Like he always makes sure that he's teaching us, too.
02:00 >> At UTEP, you obviously didn't get as high profile games as like the top teams
02:04 at LSU.
02:05 How excited are you to kind of like come out of the tunnel and
02:08 see that atmosphere, and what are you thinking today?
02:11 >> I'm thrilled for it, but it's a little like, okay, yeah,
02:15 I ain't been to a lot of games in the ass LSU.
02:18 So it's gonna be exciting regardless.
02:20 So I just gotta make sure I get the butterflies out before the snap,
02:23 before the first snap, so that's all.
02:24 >> What is the biggest game you've played in?
02:28 >> Biggest game I played in was probably Oklahoma to Texas at UTEP.
02:33 >> You played at Oklahoma and Texas?
02:35 >> Played at Oklahoma and played at Texas the COVID year.
02:38 >> So you've seen the COVID year.
02:40 >> Yes, sir.
02:40 >> You talked about like how the benefits I guess of having a team like that.
02:49 >> I would say it's a huge benefit cuz it's a lot of older people in the room.
02:54 So like when it comes to that,
02:55 it's a lot of guys that already seen like what causes brains.
02:59 So it's not too many distractions when it comes to focusing on the job at hand and
03:02 that's when this is a game.
03:04 >> Have any guys kind of like, I mean, you kind of know what I got to do,
03:07 but like anyone that's weighing in the way, like when you came in, that's what-
03:10 >> Definitely, I would say for sure it was Mo,
03:13 Maurice Smith, Rob Scott, Bless Harris, all the guys that was already here.
03:17 Like Darius Washington, J Trav, that's my brother right there.
03:22 But yeah, all of them, it's just a real family here.
03:25 That's the main part that I like about this.
03:28 >> Playing next to a guard and a tight end,
03:31 how important is that continuity and how do you all work?
03:35 >> I would say it's extremely important.
03:37 Like we all gotta make sure that we're on the same page.
03:39 Even if we caught the wrong thing, if we all do the same thing, sure, it might pop.
03:43 So that's just the biggest thing, just understanding that,
03:45 just getting that chemistry more, that's all it is.
03:47 >> What was your biggest strength when you arrived here?
03:50 >> Say that one more time.
03:53 >> What was your biggest strength when you got here and
03:55 what have you improved on since?
03:57 >> I would say my biggest strength when I got here would probably be my run blocking.
04:00 And then once I got here, it really, you've really honed in on my pass broke.
04:04 So I feel like that's a big improvement I've done so far being here.
04:08 >> The guys you pass broke against, how good are they?
04:12 >> The guys I pass broke against?
04:13 >> Yeah.
04:13 >> Shoot, they on every watch list that you can think of.
04:17 You got Jarrett Burst and Pat Payton.
04:18 So it's like, it's iron sharpen iron every day at practice.
04:21 That's the part I like the most.
04:23 Like Pat, that's basically like my arch nemesis when we at practice.
04:26 Me and him go at it.
04:27 That's my brother.
04:28 >> Who's your favorite player to go up against?
04:31 >> Favorite player to go up against?
04:32 It probably had to be Pat or Jarrett.
04:34 I like Jarrett cuz he talk.
04:36 So when he talk, I talk back.
04:37 So it's like, yeah, we gonna be talking all day.
04:40 >> Do you think you've seen this baby grow a little bit?
04:43 >> For sure.
04:43 He's like, I didn't see him in 2022, but just watching the film and everything.
04:49 He's gotten a lot patient with his hands.
04:50 He's turned into a real air dresser.
04:53 I ain't gonna lie to y'all.
04:53 >> How about against the run?
04:56 Who do you like the most?
04:59 Who's the toughest guys to go against?
05:01 >> The run.
05:02 >> The run?
05:02 Jarrett, cuz he big as hell, strong.
05:08 Like he's not built like a regular human.
05:11 So that's pretty hard to block.
05:12 But it's hard though.
