01:33 in last week I was getting all
01:34 geeked out because I said we
01:35 are closer and closer the
01:37 football season listen dude
01:39 down the stretch we call it is
01:42 almost here okay last week you
01:44 were like getting a little
01:45 excited sort of pumped up
01:46 telling us about the seasons
01:48 and all kinds of nostalgia how
01:50 excited are you this week as we
01:51 are so close to football season
01:53 I'm just waiting I'm just
01:56 waiting I'm just waiting I'm
01:58 just like last Saturday was the
02:00 last. Something simmering I'm
02:02 simmering I'm just waiting it's
02:04 like right before a game when
02:05 you're a player and you're just
02:07 waiting to explode on that
02:09 first play of the game last
02:11 Saturday was the last Saturday
02:12 for a very long time without
02:14 college football I'm just
02:16 simmering and I'm just waiting
02:17 my friend it's almost. All
02:19 right man I'm I'm simmering to
02:21 myself but I'm simmering as well
02:23 I'm ready for some football
02:24 we'll get the hardball and a
02:26 self imposed suspension the SEC
02:29 commissioner is going to make an
02:30 appearance on the big ten show
02:31 some comments he made we'll get
02:32 to those as it pertains to what
02:34 is now the power for plus a
02:36 couple of teams how west- but
02:38 before we get there we're gonna
02:39 talk some Iowa Hawkeye football
02:41 today Adams favorite team in the
02:44 country. As a former Husker god
02:47 they love Iowa which is great
02:48 because we got David Eichel
02:51 joining us today and David
02:54 actually graduated from
02:56 Nebraska and covers Iowa David
02:58 is with twenty four seven sports
03:00 and CBS sports covering the
03:02 Hawkeyes David welcome man I'm
03:04 glad you got some of your
03:05 brother in with you today and
03:06 another Husker. Hey I appreciate
03:09 you guys having me yeah like I
03:10 was telling you off camera off
03:12 the record I got a bunch of
03:13 memes made to me I got called a
03:15 turncoat I got the shame shame
03:17 shame gifts tweeted at me by
03:19 people when I announced I was
03:21 going to Iowa after graduating
03:23 from Nebraska but- you know I
03:24 get a venture back in Nebraska a
03:26 little bit within the
03:27 conference and of course this
03:28 rivalry is. Completely heated up
03:30 I think over the past half
03:31 decade or so so it's- it's been
03:33 a thrill to cover for sure.
03:35 Yeah man we'll get that rivalry
03:36 renewed once again this season.
03:38 Which we will talk about in a
03:39 second I want to start right
03:41 away though. With the end of
03:42 last year to now. How would you
03:44 categorize this off season and
03:47 some of the things that were
03:48 happening around the Iowa
03:49 program what really stood out to
03:51 you as they prepare for another
03:52 year. Yeah here's the thing
03:54 Kirk Ferenc is often ridiculed
03:56 by the national media in terms
03:58 of he's not willing to change I
03:59 think Kirk Ferenc is willing to
04:01 change it just takes him a lot
04:03 longer than everybody wants him
04:04 to take right. I think it's the
04:06 second most important off season
04:08 the Kirk Ferenc era I think
04:09 obviously twenty twenty with the
04:10 racial disparity allegations and
04:12 how they responded to that was
04:13 number one. But Iowa with an
04:15 all time bad all time horrible
04:18 all time so bad I had to go
04:20 funding made for my bourbon fund
04:22 for having to watch and cover
04:23 that offense it was just
04:24 absolutely. Horrific I think it
04:29 all started came back to America
04:30 once came back to America made
04:32 Iowa was one of the most
04:33 important gets I think in the
04:34 modern Kirk Ferenc recruiting
04:36 wins because Cade is where all
04:38 the dominoes fell. And it was a
04:40 very interesting situation
04:41 because Cade no being overtaken
04:43 by J. J. McCarthy at Michigan
04:45 and this is a guy who won a big
04:46 ten title this is a guy who is
04:48 the starter in a college
04:49 football playoff game. He gets
04:51 to Iowa and he's not gonna say
04:52 it publicly but you know he
04:54 wants to play Michigan the big
04:55 ten title getting Eric all
04:57 getting in Ohio state wide
04:59 receiver to go to Iowa. I mean
05:02 you talk about a former
05:03 Wolverine and a former Buckeye
05:05 are now reuniting on a new team
05:07 in the big ten. The storylines
05:09 have been awesome but I think
05:10 Iowa utilizing the transfer
05:12 portal and the way they've gone
05:14 about it has been so so
05:15 important and I think it has
05:17 saved Kirk Ferenc a lot of
05:19 face because as much as Iowa's
05:21 PR wants to take a step in the
05:23 right direction then they
05:24 announced twenty five points per
05:25 game and seven wins right I mean
05:27 it just when you think they
05:28 might turn a corner. Iowa just
05:31 self sabotage and that was I
05:33 think Gary Barta's kind of final
05:35 stand before he he departed the
05:36 University of Iowa. So okay in
05:39 all seriousness everyone knows
05:41 I'm a Nebraska guy. Okay so as
05:43 soon as they find out I'm going
05:44 to talk Iowa football it's like
05:46 oh we just going to have no I
05:48 try to be as objective as I can
05:50 you got to keep in mind I have
05:51 called for Nebraska head coaches
05:53 to be let go not that I wanted
05:54 to not that that was something
05:55 I was looking forward to doing
05:56 but I try to be objective. But
05:58 here's my question and this is
05:59 the first question I wrote down
06:01 is Cade McNamara really the
06:03 answer and here's why I asked
06:04 now he did some good things at
06:05 Michigan everything that you
06:07 mentioned okay but his stats
06:08 aren't going to blow you away
06:09 he has 21 career touchdown
06:11 passes seven I.N.T.s in three
06:13 years and he didn't start every
06:15 game for three years but he only
06:16 has one 300 plus yard passing
06:19 game in those three years. He's
06:21 not exactly dynamic with his
06:23 feet. So my question is this
06:24 had he come from Indiana Rutgers
06:28 anywhere else but Michigan or
06:29 Ohio State with those same stats
06:32 would people be as excited about
06:34 him. Is he really and truly the
06:35 answer because I do personally
06:36 have my doubts I think it's a
06:39 fair question. I obviously the
06:40 winning pedigree helps but I
06:42 would also point push back with
06:44 this Iowa's quarterback play
06:46 over the past two years has been
06:47 some of the most horrific play
06:49 you can imagine the power five
06:51 level Iowa doesn't need a 300
06:53 yards per game quarterback
06:54 they're never going to play like
06:55 that under Kirk Ferentz they
06:56 want to utilize balance. I think
06:58 Caleb Johnson the running back
06:59 is due for a big big time season
07:01 I think he's going to go for
07:02 over a thousand yards I think
07:03 he's been slept on a little bit
07:05 Iowa's offensive line I think is
07:07 the big question they have to be
07:08 a strong foundation they have to
07:09 get back to what Kirk Ferentz is
07:11 known for during his Iowa career
07:13 but Iowa just needs a guy who is
07:15 one not going to turn the ball
07:17 over to go through multiple
07:19 progressions and three just can
07:21 manage the offense I think Cade
07:22 does a really nice job with that
07:24 back in his time in Michigan and
07:26 Cade you know he completes 64
07:28 percent of his passes during that
07:29 2021 season Iowa has not had a
07:31 quarterback complete 60 percent
07:33 or more passes since 2015 when
07:36 CJ Beathard was there and they
07:37 went 12-0 in the regular season
07:39 so I do understand the pushback
07:43 a little bit but I think when
07:44 you just look at where Iowa is
07:45 coming from and the skill
07:47 position players they've had
07:48 through the portal getting a more
07:50 mature offensive line I think
07:51 Logan Jones who's out council
07:53 bluffs I think he's in for a big
07:55 year and taking a step in the
07:56 right direction but Iowa just
07:58 needs a consistent guy that can
07:59 constantly make the right plays
08:01 and doesn't have to be a mobile
08:03 quarterback but just maneuver
08:05 the pocket better and I think
08:06 Cade's capable of doing that
08:08 obviously I don't think we're
08:09 really going to see where he's
08:10 at until they go to Penn State on
08:12 September 23rd.
08:14 That's the fourth game of the
08:15 season David Eichhol with us here
08:16 from CBS Sports 24/7 Sports
08:18 covering the Iowa Hawkeyes they
08:20 start their season off against
08:22 Utah State then it's Iowa State
08:23 Western Michigan in the
08:24 aforementioned Penn State Nittany
08:26 Lions you guys can check out the
08:28 Big Ten show on iTunes, Spotify,
08:30 YouTube, Bally Sports and
08:32 Sports Illustrated SI.com we
08:35 appreciate everybody that
08:36 continues to like, subscribe and
08:37 listen to the show.
08:39 Baby Ferentz that's what we call
08:40 him here on the show alright
08:41 Baby Ferentz got a different
08:43 contract than he had prior
08:45 certain number of points got a
08:46 score or your ass is going to get
08:48 canned.
08:49 Is this a realistic expectation
08:52 or will there be a new offensive
08:53 coordinator next year?
08:55 I think here's the thing I think
08:57 based on the amendments he's
08:58 going to be automatically
08:59 terminated just per his contract
09:01 but there are a couple different
09:02 elements I think people need to
09:03 look at one Gary Barda is no
09:05 longer here at Iowa they have
09:07 Beth Getz who I was very very
09:09 impressed with and she just flat
09:10 out said when I asked her about
09:12 her opening press conference she
09:13 will evaluate it at the end of
09:15 the season and if you look at
09:16 Iowa schedule you look at on
09:18 paper seven wins is pretty
09:21 pathetic just to be quite honest
09:23 with you because look at Iowa's
09:24 one of five teams over the past
09:26 seven seasons has won eight or
09:27 more games right 25 points per
09:30 game that would be good for
09:31 eighty-fifth in the country last
09:33 football season and on top of
09:35 that I wish Iowa made it
09:36 offensive points because how many
09:38 points does Iowa score on pick
09:40 sixes how many points they score
09:42 on special teams Iowa's leading
09:44 quote-unquote receiver for
09:45 touchdowns last year was
09:47 defensive back Cooper Dajene
09:48 until Luke Lachey had his fourth
09:50 touchdown in the bowl game like
09:51 that's how much points Phil
09:53 Parker puts up for them so I'll
09:55 say this I think if Iowa wins
09:58 ten games but the average 24
10:00 points per game I don't think
10:01 Brian Farris is game can because
10:03 they're gonna make they're gonna
10:04 win the games are gonna go to a
10:05 Big Ten title at that point and
10:06 I just have a tough time being
10:09 able to sell the fact that hey I
10:10 was gonna fire their offensive
10:11 coordinator who by the way is
10:13 the son of the head coach
10:14 because this is not anything I'm
10:15 hearing but this is something I
10:16 think people have really failed
10:18 to take into account Gary Barta
10:20 was Brian Farris's direct boss
10:22 due to nepotism laws if Gary
10:24 Barta had chosen to fire Brian
10:26 Farris is Kurt Farris the coach
10:27 this football season I have my
10:29 personal doubts about it and I
10:30 think that's you know that could
10:32 be a reason why you know Brian
10:34 Farris is with this contract
10:36 man-man coming back now Phil
10:40 Steele does a great job putting
10:41 out his magazines every off
10:43 season ton of info he does a
10:45 deep dive into just about
10:47 everything you could possibly
10:48 imagine college football wise
10:50 and he projects Iowa to average
10:52 twenty seven point seven points
10:54 per game going into this year
10:55 now you don't play Michigan you
10:57 don't play Ohio State in the
10:58 regular season you go to
10:59 Wisconsin you go to Penn State
11:01 as we mentioned a little bit
11:02 earlier okay so my question is
11:04 this because you got 16
11:06 returning starters as well which
11:08 is the most Kirk Ference has
11:09 ever had in 20 plus years at
11:11 Iowa a lot of returning starters
11:12 much easier schedule you got the
11:14 Savior and Cade McNamara pardon
11:16 my sarcasm okay how many wins
11:18 does Iowa get this year in your
11:20 mind because you know you kind
11:22 of made it pretty clear seven it
11:24 should be much more than that so
11:25 in your mind how many wins do
11:27 you think they get well let's
11:28 put it this way this is Kirk
11:30 Ference's last chance for a Big
11:31 Ten title people don't want to
11:33 talk about but the divisions are
11:34 going away you're getting USC
11:35 UCLA join the conference I've
11:37 been all on board of this since
11:38 the beginning of the summer it
11:40 has to be Big Ten title
11:41 appearance or bust this has to
11:43 be a 10 win regular season team
11:45 or bust as you mentioned 16
11:47 returning starters you get
11:48 Caleb Brown who I think won't
11:50 be Iowa's leading wide receiver
11:51 but he'll at least be able to
11:53 stop teams from stacking the
11:54 box Nico Rogan he's back for his
11:56 27th year of college football it
11:58 feels like he's a Jordan Bohan
11:59 of Iowa football yeah you have
12:02 Luc Lachey and Eric all I think
12:04 are gonna put up very similar to
12:06 Jay Hawkins and Noah Fenton
12:07 numbers I if Eric all stays
12:09 healthy his back his claim to be
12:11 100% I'm gonna take him at his
12:13 word I think he can be due for a
12:15 big year and then you have
12:16 Xavier Wampa five-star safety
12:18 is gonna start the season Cooper
12:19 Degene who I think is going to
12:21 win the German Jim Thorpe award
12:23 or at least be a finalist for
12:24 the Jim Thorpe award Nick Jackson
12:26 out of Virginia linebacker 354
12:29 tackles and I think this is one
12:30 of Iowa's deepest defensive
12:31 lines in the Kirk parents era
12:33 given that in the schedule I
12:35 think this has to be an India
12:36 bus season I think it's a
12:38 failure otherwise yeah the
12:39 biggest test on that schedule
12:41 Penn State Minnesota Wisconsin
12:43 you have Illinois who could put
12:45 up a good game or two against
12:46 some really good competition
12:47 saw a year ago Nebraska team in
12:49 the schedule listen man I don't
12:51 want to I want to do it like
12:52 this because I'm a Miami fan of
12:54 you but I'm gonna go I'm gonna
12:56 go ten wins man how many how
12:59 many you got Adam because ten
13:00 wins means they only lose twice
13:01 that means they beat either
13:02 Minnesota Wisconsin I just
13:04 assume they're gonna lose to
13:05 Penn State because I think Penn
13:06 State's really good but I got
13:08 ten how many wins you got for
13:09 him Adam well I actually have
13:10 one more question for David
13:12 before I answer my question
13:13 first how many do you got Adam I
13:15 want to hear David's and I want
13:16 to be educated when I give my
13:18 answers okay is that all right
13:20 with you my friend all right so
13:21 here's my question because this
13:22 has entered my mind if I'm baby
13:24 Ference I'm like man I got to
13:26 average 25 points it's in
13:28 writing I have to average this
13:29 many points per game and last
13:31 year what was a 17.7 points per
13:34 game which was like a hundred
13:35 twenty third in the country
13:36 hopefully we're slightly to a
13:38 lot better than that but do you
13:39 think he's gonna change what
13:41 he's done offensively for years
13:43 and maybe I don't wanna say
13:44 panic but a heightened sense of
13:46 urgency to get to 25 points a
13:48 game do you think he alters what
13:50 they do offensively and then
13:52 I'll give my win prediction
13:53 total by the way I did pick I
13:56 would be Penn State this year
13:57 and still go to okay I'll say
14:00 the losses then who are the two
14:02 losses I think I think they're
14:04 gonna lose the Illinois okay and
14:06 I think they either lose to
14:08 Nebraska or Wisconsin. All
14:12 right I'm I'm just kind of
14:13 still toss up he's a black hate
14:15 you man P. J. Fleck hate you
14:16 okay and he can't believe he's
14:18 fine. He's a black continues to
14:21 be ranked over Kirk Ference in
14:23 the code in the big ten coaching
14:24 ranks everything like that and
14:25 P. J. Fleck is like oh and eight
14:27 against Kirk Ference. But the
14:30 Iowa offense right I don't
14:32 think Brian's been able to run
14:33 an offense because I was
14:35 offensive line has just been
14:36 flat out broken throughout the
14:37 past couple years I mean what
14:38 could they really do
14:39 schematically to combat
14:40 anything they didn't have the
14:41 wide receiver talent they had
14:43 two healthy wide receivers at
14:44 the time tied in Sam will
14:46 border might be one of the more
14:47 underrated players and Kirk
14:49 Ference is air at tenure because
14:51 he just never had any help
14:52 around him the stats won't blow
14:54 you away but I think he's gonna
14:55 be a big impact player for the
14:57 lion so I think you have a
14:58 quarterback that's gonna be a
14:59 little bit more risky take some
15:01 shots downfield I think I was
15:02 gonna have a little bit more
15:03 athleticism on the perimeter
15:04 Eric all Luke Lachey can spread
15:06 out some things but you're
15:07 telling me that is I will get a
15:09 look to score they have twenty
15:10 four points with thirty seconds
15:12 left at the ten yard line when
15:13 they can deal it out I think
15:15 they're getting deal it out but
15:16 the same time depending on the
15:18 team it wouldn't surprise me if
15:19 I would try to just get a little
15:21 bit edge in there but I also I
15:24 try to put up with you as
15:25 Western Michigan you know who
15:26 knows that's right I wonder what
15:29 that means yeah. Adam how many
15:32 wins I'm gonna go with nine I
15:34 don't think they get Penn State
15:36 because I have Penn State right
15:37 up there with Michigan this year
15:38 actually had Ohio State part of
15:40 that's due to a very easy
15:41 schedule obviously they're very
15:42 talented as well man with
15:44 Wisconsin and I'm gonna give the
15:46 nod to Wisconsin even though I'm
15:47 very hesitant with the brand new
15:49 coach and a new offense but when
15:50 you can turn around a hand to
15:51 that running back anytime you're
15:52 struggling that helps a lot they
15:54 always play solid D and I do I
15:56 have and maybe this is Homer
15:57 ism I try to be objective but I
15:59 have Nebraska winning at home
16:00 because I think Matt rule by
16:01 that time hope I think it could
16:03 be a little bit rough early on
16:04 until the offense hopefully gets
16:06 rolling there in Lincoln maybe
16:07 by then they can be rolling a
16:09 little bit and I'm just I'm
16:10 curious if I was going to have
16:12 some sort of identity crisis on
16:13 offense at some point during
16:15 this year trying to get to this
16:16 twenty five magical points per
16:18 game mark I hope that doesn't
16:20 become an issue it's gonna be
16:21 fast let me go ahead really
16:23 push back really really quick so
16:24 Penn State the week before they
16:26 play Iowa they play Illinois
16:27 whose defensive lines great drew
16:29 all are going back to back
16:30 against those defenses and Iowa
16:31 has experience winning in the
16:33 white out and kid McNamara has
16:34 been at Penn State which is why
16:36 I gave the nod to Iowa simply
16:38 because I don't know drew all
16:39 are going to be ready to face
16:41 Iowa secondary at that time
16:42 that secondary is sick dude it's
16:44 gonna be great to watch man and
16:45 they're gonna need that
16:46 secondary to play spectacular to
16:47 get that 10 win mark David and
16:49 myself have Adam of course be the
16:51 Husker guy just slightly below
16:53 10 only going with my game
16:54 sometimes he's on bias he's
16:56 told us that multiple times
16:58 about I was on bias all right
16:59 we'll see David I call at David
17:01 I call you can check him out
17:02 twenty four seven sports CBS
17:03 sports as well cover the Hawkeyes
17:05 he's got you covered David
17:06 thanks so much for the time
17:07 today man we appreciate. Thanks
17:09 guys take care you too man so
17:12 Adam I gotta ask you before we
17:13 get the Harbaugh and the SEC do
17:15 you need to take a shower after
17:16 talking so much Iowa. You feel
17:19 dirty. No not really I mean it's
17:22 the big 10 show we're gonna talk
17:24 all schools at some point and we
17:26 might have 50 schools at some
17:28 point to talk about in this
17:29 conference so I'm open to
17:31 talking to any school as
17:33 objectively as I possibly can
17:35 and I will always do my best
17:36 except Miami will always think
17:37 God by the way check out the
17:40 list podcast we just raked the
17:42 top 10 Miami hurricanes of all
17:43 time baby how about that you
17:45 got all right give me your top
17:46 five real quick top five quick
17:47 who were they I had Edger and
17:49 James I had Clinton Portis I had
17:54 all God dude I'm going blank
17:55 man who else I had in that top
17:56 five I mean my top ten I had
17:58 Michael Irvin Vince Wilford-
18:00 Sean Taylor. I think I think I
18:04 sat at eleven I care about you
18:06 know. Wow I think I mean do you
18:09 go check out the list podcast
18:10 okay. I mean so let's move on to
18:15 Michigan and talk about Harbaugh
18:17 again the big ten show brought
18:18 to you by Jacobson seed company
18:20 your healthy hybrid advantage
18:21 farmers if you're listening right
18:22 now you may say I got I got my
18:24 seeds covered man I'm good I
18:26 don't need to do something
18:27 different just give a call you
18:28 can check out the website
18:29 Jacobson seed dot com we
18:31 promise you it'll be worth your
18:32 time to give our friends at
18:34 Jacobson seed a call all right
18:35 so Harbaugh was facing a
18:37 suspension from the NCA and they
18:39 rejected it then Michigan
18:42 decided this week yesterday
18:44 earlier this week that they
18:46 would ultimately hand down a
18:48 three game self imposed sanction
18:51 against Harbaugh three games and
18:54 it stems from alleged
18:55 violations during the COVID-19
18:57 dead period according to the
18:58 university and I quote here from
19:00 athletic director Ward manual
19:02 while the ongoing NCA matter
19:04 continues through the NCA
19:05 process today's announcement is
19:06 our way of addressing the stakes
19:08 that a department has agreed to
19:10 in a attempt to further the
19:11 process we will continue to
19:13 support coach Harbaugh his staff
19:14 and our outstanding student
19:15 athletes per the NCA guidelines
19:17 we cannot comment further until
19:19 the matter is resolved we don't
19:21 have to adhere to NCA guidelines
19:23 Adam give me a minute or so what
19:25 you think of the self imposed
19:26 sanctions of three games well a
19:29 couple of things there was rumor
19:30 in innuendo that it was over a
19:32 bottom cheeseburger that has
19:33 since been supposedly debunked
19:35 which is ridiculous when you've
19:37 got college athletes transferring
19:39 from school to school over
19:40 million-dollar NIL deals and
19:42 we're talking about a cheeseburger
19:43 course that is supposedly been
19:45 debunked we don't know exactly
19:46 what the details are but let's
19:48 let's just call it what it is
19:49 this is Michigan doing a
19:51 preemptive strike hopefully that
19:53 hopefully suspending their own
19:54 coach will lessen whatever the
19:56 NCAA ends up doing down the road
19:58 and I'm not even indicting it
20:00 that is what they should do why
20:01 would you not do this this only
20:03 makes sense so we'll see what
20:05 the actual issue is because I
20:07 don't think we really know and
20:08 we'll see what the NCAA actually
20:10 does but this is what Michigan's
20:12 doing that's why and it's what
20:13 they should do yeah I'm just I
20:15 keep going back to every off
20:16 season with Harbaugh and it
20:18 feels like the last few years
20:19 he's really entertained
20:21 potentially going back to the
20:23 to the National Football League
20:24 as a head coach this go around
20:26 and I think it's interesting
20:28 that he was willing to take the
20:30 suspension it got rejected but
20:32 they're self-imposing these I
20:34 think if he was super
20:36 interested in going to the NFL
20:37 he may kick this down the road a
20:39 little bit and tried to have the
20:41 suspension be enacted next year
20:43 when maybe he's not Michigan's
20:44 coach the fact that he was
20:45 willing to take the suspension
20:46 haven't happened to start the
20:47 season leads me to believe that
20:49 he's pretty comfortable where
20:50 he's at at Michigan but we all
20:51 know Harbaugh can change his
20:52 mind pretty quick so it's gonna
20:53 be fascinating to watch once the
20:55 season is over the Big Ten show
20:57 again YouTube iTunes Spotify
20:59 valleys and Sports Illustrated
21:01 all places you can check us out
21:04 that's Adam Carriker I am Jeff
21:06 turn real quick Adam the other
21:08 story I wanted to hit on the
21:09 commissioner of the SEC Greg
21:11 Sankey was talking this week
21:13 about how the college football
21:14 the college football playoff is
21:15 going to probably have to change
21:17 once again now that we've had
21:19 all this realignment now he said
21:21 in a paraphrasing here it
21:22 doesn't mean that we have to
21:23 change the number of teams but
21:25 the format may have to change
21:27 which is an interesting way to
21:28 say basically let's set it up so
21:30 there's more SEC teams because
21:31 we're going to be playing a
21:32 harder schedule than everybody
21:34 else I felt like it was
21:36 interesting timing we don't have
21:38 a Pac-12 essentially after this
21:40 year with only four remaining
21:41 teams and it's going to be a
21:42 power for seemingly for next
21:44 year but then things could
21:45 change to maybe a power three or
21:47 just two it feels like the
21:48 Pac-12 is going to hang on
21:49 though through all of this the
21:50 ACC probably most vulnerable do
21:52 you think sooner rather than
21:53 later we see either more teams
21:55 added or the format changed to
21:56 the college football playoff now
21:58 that we saw this realignment the
21:59 last few weeks well one final
22:02 thought on hardball when your
22:03 first three games or games you
22:04 can win pretty much blindfolded
22:07 it's easy to accept the
22:08 suspension as well but we'll
22:10 move on I absolutely there's
22:12 going to be more change in
22:13 college football Trev Alberts
22:15 the Nebraska AD has come out
22:16 and said the SEC commissioners
22:18 come out said there's going to
22:19 be more movement it's going to
22:20 happen Albert's actually said
22:22 it's going to be more even say
22:24 earth-shattering but it's gonna
22:25 be more earth-shattering than
22:26 anything that's happened so far
22:27 I mean I've seen projections of
22:29 FSU and Clemson go into the Big
22:30 Ten which I was like that'd be
22:31 awesome I'm surprised they go to
22:33 the SEC I thought but whatever
22:34 works I think what the SEC
22:36 commissioners talking about is
22:37 the fact that the five power
22:39 conferences so to speak all
22:41 other champions get an automatic
22:42 top like top six seed or
22:44 whatever and then the next
22:45 highest ranked conference
22:46 champion gets that the remaining
22:48 six see that doesn't make any
22:50 sense anymore and yes what he's
22:51 saying is we want more SEC teams
22:53 in but can you imagine a pack
22:55 four or whatever it is so you've
22:57 got like a five and seven Oregon
22:59 State or something like that all
23:00 of a sudden in the top six so
23:01 yeah I think the Big Ten the SEC
23:03 champ automatically get in as far
23:05 as you know one of those top four
23:07 seeds or whatever the case may be
23:08 maybe a Big 12 champ potentially
23:10 but it's absolutely going to have
23:11 to change from the current format
23:13 because there's only going to be
23:14 two or three real power
23:15 conferences in the next couple of
23:17 years absolutely man that's the
23:19 point that I think makes the most
23:21 sense you can't have the format
23:23 with the way that the conference
23:24 champions were scheduled to be
23:25 slotted in especially when it's
23:26 going to be potentially a five
23:28 and seven team if they keep the
23:29 pack for together which I think
23:30 is going to be completely
23:31 disbanded anyways but you know
23:33 it makes sense for what he was
23:35 saying and more change is
23:36 certainly on the horizon fun show
23:39 today appreciate David Eichel
