Any more to do for Everton?
Transcript
00:00 Well, finally on Everton, is there much more business to happen transfer-wise?
00:04 What can we say? Because obviously it's been a recurring situation where we thought
00:09 there could be a last roll of the dice and it will be very late from Everton.
00:12 What's the latest you can tell us?
00:14 Yeah, I mean, you'd like to hope there are going to be a good few incomings, certainly a striker,
00:21 obviously Chas and moving closer to signing, it appears, ÂŁ15 million and, you know,
00:28 sort of the structure of the deal, Southampton's been negotiating, I think,
00:32 some have poured scorn on that deal because he hasn't been prolific as a goal scorer, but
00:40 Everton just need to increase the amount of goals they score, they don't need anyone prolific,
00:44 if they can keep Tom Ricard up there with this, then yeah, they need a good back-up as well,
00:50 and if they can get players chipping in with more goals this season, then that's a good thing,
00:56 obviously. Will he get on? They've been in hot pursuit of him, he's been reintegrated to
01:02 Leeds training now and Leeds have made it very clear that he won't be leaving the club this summer.
01:08 Yeah, a lot of the time there's player power, usually prevails in the modern day, doesn't it?
01:16 But Leeds, obviously, there's no relegation, no release clause in his contract and given how many
01:23 players Leeds have lost this summer, they can't afford to lose too many more, obviously Sinistera
01:28 might depart still as well, so they really can't afford to lose too many more, so Everton have got
01:33 to go and look elsewhere for another potential winger, I've talked about earlier, a centre-back,
01:39 for me, is quite important now. Some people are looking at the centre in the field and thinking,
01:44 do we need to strengthen there as well? But it's the folks who Everton can get in, ultimately,
01:49 the budget allows them to get in and to purchase as well might help with that.
01:57 Damali Gray appears at a fee with Al-Shabaab and Saudi Arabia's in a agree, but it's a case of
02:03 whether Damali Gray wants to go to Saudi Arabia because he might not fancy it, to be honest with
02:07 you. He's got young child here and he might not want to leave his childhood to go and play there,
02:15 to be honest with you. I mean, I know Everton need the money, but for me, actually, fair play,
02:21 to be honest with you, as someone who's willing to turn that sort of money down, you've got to
02:26 admire him for that because there's so many who are doing it, but if that's his reason, fair be
02:31 it, that's his prerogative, he's got a year left on his deal. Reports suggested that Fulham and
02:38 Crystal Palace both like him, so I think Everton will be happy to make a deal if they can.
02:44 Mason Holgate hasn't been featured in the matchday squad. He was injured earlier in the summer,
02:51 but he played two games for the under-21s and friendlies and he hasn't appeared. I don't think
02:56 he's been spotted in any training photos either, so I think Everton would be quite happy to offload
03:02 him. That gives you funds to maybe bring in another centre-back. You've got players on the
03:07 periphery like Andre Gomez, who's on a significant, you know, significant wages, so a year left on his
03:13 deal. Probably not in Sean Dyche's plans, not really a Sean Dyche player to be honest, we've
03:19 been sensing the feels. And you've got John Philip Gabaman, who's another one with a year left on his
03:25 deal and after spending last season out on the Traversland sport, you know, Sean Dyche, now he
03:30 has to go to the press conference last week, what's the situation with him? He hasn't even returned to
03:34 training this summer, so Sean Dyche said we're waiting for offers, you know, there's got to be
03:39 offers first. So that was Everton are open to letting him go, but no one's coming in for him yet.
03:46 Is that a case of, are his wages too high again? So it's hard for Everton to be honest with you.
03:55 A couple of youngsters like Tom Cannon, I think once another striker comes in, he'll probably be
04:00 allowed to go out on loan. But yeah, it's just the situation. They've set it all along, haven't I?
04:05 It's going to go right to the deadline and I think we can't expect a busy deadline day. I mean,
04:10 last look at January, we're desperate to get a tackle players in and we couldn't.
04:15 Yeah, I think that it'll go right to the wire again.
