RT Local Episode 10 - Archana Das

In episode 10 of RT Local, our series highlighting the voices of those working at the grassroots of tourism, we speak with Archana Das, Field Executive, Indian Grameen Services at Mangalajodi Ecotourism. Mangalajodi Ecotourism is a wildlife conservation venture in Odisha owned and managed by the local community. Archana tells us how the community has been affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with tourism coming to a complete halt. She, however, offers us a beautiful and uplifting message of hope. The community in Mangalajodi has been helping out the Gram Panchayat with Covid-19 awareness and has set up isolation centers for returning migrant workers and is providing them with food and shelter. They have adopted Covid-19 ready guidelines and are looking forward to reopening on 27th September, which is World Tourism Day.
