In episode 6 of #RTLocal, our series highlighting the voices of those working at the grassroots of tourism, we hear from Batal Pardhi, a forest guide in Panna, Madhya Pradesh. Batal belongs to the Pardhi community, who are famed trackers. They conduct forest walking tours, Walk with the Pardhis, with support from The Last Wilderness Foundation. The Pardhi guides 'read' the jungle's many secrets on the ground and in the calls of the animals and birds and 'translate' them for guests. Covid-19 has, of course, stopped all this and the Pardhis have been severely affected. The community hopes tourists will be back soon to experience their beautiful forests.
