00:00 Here's today's Husker Max Practice Report brought to you by Tracy's Collision Center
00:05 on 1499.3 KLIN.
00:09 Husker football had a scrimmage over the weekend.
00:11 Here's head coach Matt Rule to give a recap of what went down.
00:14 First scrimmage today, obviously great work the first time in the stadium.
00:17 Had some people watching so it was good for us to get out there.
00:20 Really a day dominated by the defense.
00:22 I thought the defense was lights out.
00:23 A lot of passion, energy.
00:26 They're significantly further ahead than the offense based off of today.
00:30 So a lot of work to do on offense, a lot of work to do on the kicking game.
00:32 But I thought the defense was ahead.
00:34 Rule also announced the departure of a very important wide receiver.
00:37 Xavier Betts has left the team.
00:40 Came to me and just said, "Hey coach, my heart's not in it."
00:43 So very, very, very proud of Xavier for what he's done as a person.
00:46 Getting eligible, I think he intends to stay in school and work to graduate.
00:50 So obviously as I told him, disappointed in the timing.
00:53 But you know what we ask people to do is hard.
00:54 If their heart's not in it, we certainly understand.
00:56 With this Husker Max practice report, I'm Matt McMaster.
