Transcript
00:00 >> All right, good and bad in day one.
00:03 The good, everybody's excited to be out there, everybody wants to get to work.
00:05 Right bad, we got a lot of things that we can work on, right?
00:08 But I'll say this, I think our guys are hungry to go work on those things.
00:11 Not a lot of execution errors, we gotta get in football shape, right?
00:14 And the only way you can get in football shape is playing football, right?
00:17 So we pushed at a high level today, we gotta come out and
00:19 push at a high level again tomorrow.
00:21 We gotta be elite when it comes to our recovery and
00:22 the things we do away from the field.
00:24 But overall positive, we're gonna keep moving in the right direction.
00:27 >> Dante Valdela, able to go today?
00:29 >> Yeah, Dante was able to go, Jerry Mixon's the other person, thank God,
00:33 they're both healthy, they were both in an incident there.
00:35 Jerry had a little laceration, they were able to stitch up, but
00:38 both those guys are gonna be good.
00:40 >> EPD said Dante had minor injuries.
00:42 >> Yeah, they're both good.
00:43 All right.
00:47 >> Looks like you got a new toy, the Monarch Seeker out there for
00:51 the receivers and DBs.
00:52 What have you seen so far in terms of just how that helps you guys practice and
00:55 get those guys more- >> You wanna create game reps.
00:57 We haven't had it long enough to be able to tell you a time, but
01:00 at the end of the day we wanna create game reps.
01:01 We wanna get as many reps as we can possibly get.
01:04 That's something that allows us to get quick, effective reps that you know
01:07 the ball is gonna be in a certain location, you can execute it on a high level.
01:10 >> Some teams have used that, whether it's Clemson or the Packers,
01:12 to talk about simulating opposing quarterbacks, possibly for
01:15 defensive purposes.
01:16 >> Yeah, we're not to that point yet.
01:18 >> Both Meshott and Junior, Meshott.
01:20 >> Meshott.
01:21 >> Meshott, yes.
01:22 They both missed spring, how is it having them back there?
01:24 How does that affect the offensive line?
01:26 >> I mean, it creates more competition for us for sure, and
01:29 you wanna be healthy up front.
01:30 At some point, you're gonna have some other guys that are gonna be involved in
01:33 the threshold for us being able to play.
01:36 And both those guys are guys that are gonna push to be playing a lot, right?
01:39 So having those guys out there create great competition and make our team better.
01:43 >> What was it about Meshott specifically that made you feel like he's the perfect fit
01:46 for the program?
01:47 >> Yeah, you watch his film, right?
01:48 Watch his film, it stands out, and then you just talk to him as a person,
01:51 what his goals are, what he wants to achieve.
01:52 He comes from a great family.
01:54 But ultimately, he's a driven guy that has some goals in front of him, and
01:57 I thought he was a good fit from a character standpoint, and
02:00 certainly a talent standpoint.
