00:02 Sometimes being a boss means you have to make
00:12 some hard decisions.
00:13 Girl, pull me over to the liquor store.
00:18 I need a drink, Lord have mercy.
00:20 I have to meet up with Tiffany,
00:24 the owner of Eye Candy Creations,
00:26 to let her know that I'm not gonna be able to move forward
00:29 with the eyewear line.
00:30 So I decided to fly out to LA to meet her in person.
00:34 Hey, Tiff.
00:37 Hey.
00:38 How are you?
00:39 I'm good, how are you?
00:41 I'm hanging in there, girl.
00:42 Oh my goodness, what's going on?
00:45 Ah, girl, it's a lot going on.
00:47 I'm surprised when I got the call,
00:49 I found out you was here in town,
00:50 and gonna be popping in on me, what's up?
00:53 You know, just after like all of the work
00:55 that we've been doing and putting in, you know,
00:59 management just feels like, you know,
01:01 I'm overextending myself.
01:03 I have so many irons in the fire,
01:05 and that this may not work,
01:07 and I can't do the eyeglass line.
01:09 What you mean?
01:11 It's just like financially,
01:13 and then with all of the other businesses
01:15 that I got going on, you know,
01:16 they feel like this may crash.
01:19 You know, I'm really overextending, you know,
01:22 the business because there's so many other things
01:25 that I have going on.
01:26 They don't think that it's possible.
01:29 Listen, this is a dream of yours, you know,
01:32 and I believe in it.
01:34 Otherwise, we wouldn't even be having the conversations,
01:37 you know, we've worked already so hard on it.
01:40 But we can start small, you know,
01:41 we don't have to start with the full brand,
01:44 you know, we can do a few styles,
01:46 you know, two, three, six styles or whatnot,
01:49 and go from there and then just reinvest,
01:51 because it's gonna work,
01:53 it's gonna fly off the shelves,
01:54 and then all we have to do is just reinvest that money
01:57 and then continue to grow.
01:58 Being a small business owner, being a woman of color,
02:01 - Oh, it takes a lot, you know.
02:03 - You don't have access to capital, you know,
02:05 as much as other businesses or other people do,
02:07 so that's a real true conversation.
02:09 I mean, I have that same, you know, those same struggles,
02:13 and it hasn't been easy for me.
02:17 I had to like bootstrap this entire way
02:20 to just continue to build,
02:21 and I don't believe in giving up,
02:24 I don't believe in nobody saying no,
02:26 I don't believe in people saying what you can't not do.
02:28 I'm not receiving that, I don't, I don't,
02:31 that just does not, it don't work for me.
02:34 It's not, I don't receive it, I don't hear it,
02:37 and I don't accept that, you know,
02:38 and we'll be able to make it happen.
02:39 - Well, that makes me feel better.
02:41 - And it's gonna be okay.
02:43 - Tiffany is about to make me cry.
02:45 She believes in me and my eyewear vision.
02:47 - I just need her to have that pep talk.
02:49 - Absolutely, anytime.
02:51 - Yes, girl, and I can go tell Rita to leave the off.
