Meet the amateur dramatics company which has been going 75 years

Pontefract St Giles Am Dram company is family run and has been going for 75 years.

00:00 We're all members of St Giles and St Mary's Pantomime Theatre Society at Pontefract.

00:05 And when did that start?

00:06 It's 75 years old this year, so we've been going for an awful long time.

00:11 And what's it been like running an amateur theatre company?

00:15 It's really good fun. We've got lots of families that are involved and engaged and that's what

00:19 we like about the society, it's very much family orientated. So we've got two members

00:24 of our cast here with us today. Sally, who's a member of our ladies chorus, and her son

00:30 Seth, who this year is playing one of our dwarfs.

00:32 Brilliant, how's that feel?

00:34 It feels alright. Last year I had to do a part of a rattling in Dick Whittington, so

00:44 I'm only 10 but I've got two principal roles in a matter of two years, so I think I'm going

00:52 to get a good path with doing this society.

00:54 Yeah, so that'll be good for your CV won't it, all those stage credits in the booklets.

01:00 And is this your mam as well?

01:01 Yeah.

01:02 And what are you doing?

01:03 I'm in the ladies chorus, but I'm also the secretary for the society. So yeah, I've been

01:09 a member since I was 8 years old, so I've been there a long time too.

01:13 Brilliant, and what can we expect from this year's Snow White?

01:17 Lots of colourful routines, singing, audience participation, lots of laughing and a really

01:24 good night's entertainment.
