Storylines from Big Ten Media Days
Transcript
00:00 All right, everybody, welcome in to another edition of the Big Ten Show, brought to you
00:05 by Jacobson Seed Company, the people that make your field yield so much better, the
00:13 hybrid advantage.
00:14 Check out our good friends at Jacobson Seed Company.
00:17 Listen, they're all about the integrity of the seed.
00:19 I'm a guy that loves to eat food from the fields of this country, and I know for a fact
00:25 that they will be putting more food in places I want to eat, based on the fact that you're
00:31 going to get 50 bushels per yield more by working with Jacobson Seed Company.
00:37 Listen, it's like as I said last week, getting a Big Ten lineman versus a D2 guy.
00:43 It's all about getting the top quality, and Jacobson Seed Co. has you covered.
00:47 Yes, it is only me, not Mr. Adam Karriker.
00:51 He just takes so much time off in the summer.
00:54 Must be wrong.
00:55 I love sitting here working away as only the hard workers can.
01:00 So today on the show, we're going to go back a week.
01:03 We're going to go back before we go forward, and we're going to talk about what just happened
01:07 at Big Ten Media Days.
01:08 Now listen, there's all kinds of storylines.
01:10 We know there's more than 10 teams in the Big Ten, but for these purposes, Big Ten Show,
01:15 we're going to go with 10 storylines from the Big Ten Media Days last week.
01:19 And we got some quotes for you.
01:21 We do have some reactions from yours truly, and I'm actually going to take one of these
01:27 topics and give you the impersonation of what I think Adam would have for this as well.
01:32 So we start at number 10, and these are in no particular order.
01:37 Again, just going from last week's Big Ten Media Days and everything that unfolded throughout
01:41 the process.
01:43 Wisconsin quarterback Tanner Mordecai, he described Wisconsin's offense as follows,
01:47 and I quote, "Dynamic, fast, explosive, more balanced than people think.
01:52 We're going to take shots."
01:53 Now in the past, we have seen Wisconsin's offense, the bread and butter of that, be
01:57 the big uglies up front, and those guys paving huge gaping holes as if it was the Grand Canyon
02:03 to run through for those dynamic running backs there at Wisconsin.
02:09 It's going to be different with Luke Fickle.
02:10 We know that.
02:11 But, as you listen to the comments coming out of Badgerland, it isn't going to be 80-20
02:17 in Madison, pass heavy.
02:19 It's going to be balanced.
02:20 But when you see them take shots, it's not going to be dink and dunk, five-yard outs.
02:25 It's going to be taking shots downfield.
02:27 Creativeness, I think, is going to be a big part of what they do offensively.
02:31 And as Adam and I have talked about a lot through this offseason, Luke Fickle, I think,
02:36 is a great fit for what they're trying to do right now in Wisconsin.
02:39 I think he's going to take that program, which is established and really good at football,
02:43 to another level in today's ever-changing college football world.
02:47 But I love those words.
02:48 Let me repeat those.
02:49 Dynamic, fast, explosive, more balanced than people think.
02:53 We're going to take some shots.
02:54 I think Wisconsin fans, from an aesthetically pleasing standpoint, are going to like what
02:58 they see on the field.
02:59 It may take a year or two until they ultimately get the guys they need to accomplish that
03:03 task.
03:04 But I absolutely love the higher Luke Fickle, the way that they're bringing in some of his
03:07 philosophies that he used at the Ohio State as the head coach at Cincinnati.
03:12 And they're going to make sure that they stay somewhat balanced, because they're going to
03:15 still recruit a lot of those guys that can create those Grand Canyon-like holes.
03:19 But I can't wait to see some of these big plays from Wisconsin this year and moving
03:23 forward.
03:24 At number nine, speaking of Wisconsin, a guy that filled in last year as the interim head
03:29 coach, Jim Leonard.
03:30 He went to Illinois as the defensive coordinator under a guy that we know knows Wisconsin because
03:36 he was the head coach prior.
03:38 And so, here's what Brett Bielema said about his new DC, Jim Leonard, last week at Big
03:45 Ten Media Days.
03:47 Come in and learn from us and let us learn from you.
03:50 I'm excited because his defensive mind and mindset is unbelievable.
03:56 I think Wisconsin was looking for an offensive change.
04:00 And I think the reason why Jim Leonard didn't get hired was because they could get a guy
04:05 that had some head coaching experience in Luke Fickle, but he was defensive-centric.
04:09 Now, he's going to go on, I think, and have a lot of success here at Illinois.
04:13 And then I think he's going to get that head coaching job somewhere else.
04:16 It may not be in the Big Ten to start, but more of a place like Cincinnati that's now
04:21 going to be in a Power Five, but wasn't at the time.
04:23 I think this guy had the buy-in of the locker room.
04:27 He's going to step in and have immediate credibility from his playing days at Wisconsin.
04:32 Bielema knows him as well as anybody.
04:34 And his defensive mindset, as Bielema said, is spectacular.
04:38 Illinois is a team that surprised people a year ago.
04:41 Now, they had some drop-off, but I think moving forward with Illinois and Bielema and Leonard,
04:48 it's going to be tough to score some points on that team.
04:51 I think they're going to control the clock a lot.
04:53 And that defense is going to set them up in some opportune situations.
04:56 I absolutely thought it was a home run hire for Brett Bielema to get Jim Leonard in the
04:59 offseason.
05:00 And I think that you saw sort of the excitement when he was asked about Jim Leonard come out
05:04 for Bielema last week at Big Ten Media Days.
05:07 Again, the Big Ten show.
05:08 No Adam Carriker this week.
05:10 I am Jeff Tern.
05:11 This show is of course brought to you by Jacobson Seed Co.
05:15 At number eight, P.J. Fleck last week had to answer some questions that I know he didn't
05:20 want to answer.
05:21 There was a piece that came out last week detailing a couple of former players' allegations
05:26 about sort of the culture within the Row the Boat Nation.
05:29 Doing the Row the Boat.
05:30 Sorry, you can't say it.
05:31 The Row the Boat Nation of Minnesota.
05:35 And some called it a hit piece.
05:37 Some were alarmed and said, "Oh my gosh, do we have another Northwestern on our hands?"
05:42 I with these stories am not going to get on the record and say I know all the facts.
05:47 But watching last week the reaction, comparable to even most recently with Northwestern, drastically
05:53 different.
05:54 Right?
05:55 Like you didn't see the masses come out and defend Northwestern and Pat Fitzgerald.
06:00 There were players that did.
06:02 And as the reports continued to come out and we started to see more and more and more from
06:06 that situation, some of that died down a little bit because it became very serious stuff.
06:11 There were no allegations of sexual misconduct or hazing at Minnesota.
06:16 There's this thing called the Fleck Bank, where apparently if you get enough points
06:19 or money within the Fleck Bank, you get in trouble, you got a little bit of leeway.
06:24 I don't see the problem with that.
06:26 Also I saw an overwhelming support for PJ Fleck from players, from players' parents,
06:33 from coaches.
06:34 I'm not going to say that this thing was fabricated because I think everybody that was interviewed
06:40 as someone that was involved in the story has their own opinion and ultimately lived
06:46 experience.
06:47 But I think PJ handled it very well.
06:51 He called the toxic culture allegations baseless and he used, I think, a lot of that support
06:58 from social media to back up what he was having to say.
07:01 Now full transparency, I went to the University of Minnesota for three years before finishing
07:05 at Tennessee State.
07:06 Shout out to ESU.
07:07 But listen, PJ Fleck and Jerry Kill have done way more for winning than their predecessors,
07:15 whether it was Brewster or Glen Mason.
07:17 They have done more for that program as far as the last few years building up that new
07:23 athletic facility for the players to train in, the brand image, and ultimately the money
07:28 that's coming into that program.
07:30 Recruiting much better under PJ Fleck than it's ever been before.
07:33 I don't think you continue to get those players to come there if there is, and we all know
07:37 this, rumors circulating about that there is a toxic environment.
07:42 I'm not calling it a hit piece.
07:43 I'm not calling it completely made up.
07:46 But PJ Fleck called it baseless, and at this point with all the support that he has got,
07:51 it leads me to believe that there were some isolated incidents where players did not like
07:55 what was going on with the way that they were treated in whatever form.
07:59 It wasn't the masses, and it wasn't the kind of situation that is currently at Northwestern.
08:05 Let's go to Michigan State next.
08:07 And Mel Tucker, year one, man, exceeded expectations, and he got a piggy bank dropped off on his
08:11 doorstep along with a dump truck full of cash.
08:16 Second year, boom, fell on their face.
08:20 Their quarterback, Peyton Thornton, transfers out, and now they have a little bit of a quarterback
08:24 battle.
08:25 But I don't think it's so much of a quarterback battle after what we heard last week from
08:30 Mel Tucker.
08:31 He's confident in Noah Kim, and I think he should be.
08:35 This dude comes out of Virginia, the 2020 class, has a bunch of great attributes, and
08:41 has been in that system now a couple of years.
08:44 He was in limited action a year ago.
08:46 It was like 14 to 19, three touchdowns, no picks.
08:50 And you can't take that and say that's going to be applicable this year.
08:53 But I like Noah Kim's game.
08:55 I think they get back to more success as long as he stays healthy.
08:57 Now, he can't chuck it around probably like Thornton could because that dude had an arm
09:00 on him, and there's a reason why he was scooped up in the portal.
09:03 But I do believe that looking forward, at least immediately in this year, that Noah
09:08 Kim has an opportunity to be an up-and-comer not only in the Big Ten, but across the country.
09:13 He's a likable kid, and everything you read about him is that he's a hard worker, and
09:18 he understands offenses.
09:19 If you go back to his high school days, and you watch the tape, and then you look at the
09:22 14 to 19 with three touchdowns and no picks from a year ago, all things trended.
09:26 Hey, he's going to have an opportunity starting off on the right foot.
09:30 So I think Mel Tucker better be confident.
09:32 And here's what he said.
09:34 He's got a lot of arm down.
09:35 He's very poised.
09:36 He's very athletic.
09:37 He's in the top 20 fastest players on our team.
09:40 He's just got the demeanor that we're looking for.
09:42 He's a guy that knows our offense, and he's going to do what we ask him to do.
09:47 He better, and he better play well, and Michigan State better play well, because I know the
09:52 buyout is enormous.
09:54 But if it's not after this year, and they struggle, it definitely will be going into
09:58 next year.
09:59 Talk of the hot seat, because Mel Tucker had one good year when he started at Michigan
10:04 State, and it never was sold with what he did at Colorado.
10:07 And so, dude, you got to get it done, and the quarterback is a big part of that.
10:12 At number six, punting.
10:14 Who else would we go to at number six when we're talking about punting other than Iowa
10:19 and Kirk Ferentz?
10:20 This is what he said at Media Days last week.
10:24 "I learned the importance of a great punter in 1981.
10:29 Reggie Roby's leg was a big reason we were Big Ten champions and played in the Rose Bowl."
10:34 I'll tell you, I have not only a great admiration and respect, but it's near and dear to my
10:43 heart, Iowa football.
10:45 My wonderful grandfather, God rest his soul, Harvey Peters, loved Iowa football and watched
10:51 it as much as anybody in that state.
10:54 And my mom will be heard from blocks away during Iowa football games in Sioux Falls,
11:00 South Dakota, because she's screaming for the Hawkeyes to win.
11:05 I have to say, nothing really happened in sports before 1985, because that's when I
11:09 was born.
11:10 Kirk, why are you talking about 1981?
11:14 I don't know if he is trolling the hell out of everyone.
11:17 I don't even know if Kirk Ferentz knows what trolling is.
11:19 I don't even know.
11:20 Dude, I don't think he's on Twitter.
11:21 I don't think he knows what trolling is.
11:25 Maybe he does.
11:26 Maybe it's sort of the old school version, pre-Twitter, that he was great at.
11:29 Before we knew what it was in Twitter world.
11:32 Or X, or whatever the hell we're calling it now.
11:35 But talking about punting from 1981, in a year where your son's contract was renegotiated
11:45 to put in a scoring clause.
11:48 A scoring clause is pretty trollishic.
11:52 Another word we get, trollishic.
11:57 Prolific trollishic.
11:59 And I think that you have a situation where either he's trolling, or he doesn't care.
12:07 What the hell people think.
12:08 Because it had to infuriate Hawkeye fans, who are hoping they turn the corner from somewhat
12:15 anemic offenses to more successful offenses, with a transfer in from Michigan and a defense
12:21 that always shows up.
12:22 We know your special teams are going to be good, Kirk.
12:24 You don't have to tell us about it, all things considered.
12:27 Remember against South Dakota State last year?
12:30 Punter won the game against an FCS team.
12:33 I understand they won the national championship, but still.
12:36 All right, at number five, Purdue head coach Ryan Walters on the Indiana rivalry.
12:42 Here's what he said.
12:43 "We don't wear red in the building."
12:44 Now, last week on the show, Adam and I were having fun playing the coaches.
12:50 We got to be the coaches.
12:51 And then the other one of us was asking questions as the reporter.
12:54 And the question came up about Indiana and Purdue.
12:59 And Adam joked around as Ryan Walters and said, "I ain't worried about Indiana.
13:02 I'm worried about Notre Dame."
13:04 Now, if you're Ryan Walters, that's a good thing to actually say, because you're saying
13:08 our program's going to be to a place that it has never been.
13:12 And that is on par with the top 10 programs in the country like Notre Dame is.
13:16 But I think you got to get past Indiana first, consistently.
13:19 And you got to be able to beat up on your in-state rival.
13:23 And so maybe he was playing Indiana as head coach.
13:27 I forget, actually, to be honest with you.
13:29 All I know is the Indiana-Purdue rivalry came up, and Notre Dame was mentioned in it by
13:32 Adam.
13:33 Purdue went to the Big Ten title game a year ago.
13:37 Their head coach went on to a better job.
13:39 I think a lot of people thought they backdoored their way in, and maybe they did.
13:43 But Purdue's been all about that offense.
13:45 Ryan Walters has to fix that defense.
13:48 And otherwise, they're going to be in shootouts with teams like Indiana.
13:52 They got to figure a way to balance that team.
13:54 We talked about earlier the balance between running the football and throwing the football
13:57 for Wisconsin.
13:58 This is more about offense, defense balancing themselves out.
14:01 Because if they would have had any lick of defense in that Big Ten championship game,
14:04 it may have come down to the final possession.
14:06 Because they were hanging offensively for a while, then they just got wore out.
14:09 And Trish had took over, and they couldn't hang.
14:11 But I feel like Purdue is maybe a year or two away when we don't have these divisions
14:17 anymore.
14:18 Remember, final year of West and East.
14:19 We're going to blow that thing up as USC.
14:21 And UCLA come into play.
14:22 Purdue's going to be a team that I think is constantly in that middle of the road and
14:26 can have that jump up within the conference.
14:29 But they got to figure out their defense to do so.
14:31 It'll be interesting with Ryan Walters coming in as the new head coach.
14:35 Next we go to James Franklin and Penn State.
14:38 Now behind the scenes, I'll tell you this about the Big Ten show, which again is brought
14:41 to you by Jacobson Seed Company.
14:43 You want 50 more bushels per yield.
14:46 All I know is that's a lot more.
14:48 And it's about the integrity and the quality of the seed.
14:50 You farmers out there, you got family that are farmers, hit up Jacobson Seed Company.
14:55 Very simply, hit them up.
14:59 We have a team in Penn State that I think can sense it's amongst me and Adam.
15:05 If it ain't Ohio State and it ain't Michigan that wins the Big Ten this year, it's going
15:09 to be Penn State.
15:10 And they can crack it, both of them, this year.
15:12 They bring back a lot of players, and they're handing the reins over to a quarterback that
15:17 is much more skilled than anything that they have seen in quite some time playing that
15:21 position at Happy Valley.
15:23 They're going to score a lot of points.
15:24 They're going to have a really good defense.
15:26 And I think their downfall isn't going to be some choke job against a team that isn't
15:30 named Ohio State or Michigan.
15:31 It's going to be against one of those teams.
15:35 The way you beat those teams is you're healthy in those matchups, you protect your quarterback,
15:39 and you're able to not have turnovers.
15:40 And a lot of times turnovers come for multiple reasons, but sometimes it's about depth issues
15:44 and you're playing guys that aren't typically accustomed to playing those positions or they
15:48 just haven't had a lot of reps and they make some mistakes.
15:51 James Franklin addressed that at Big Ten Media Days.
15:53 He said, "We're back to a more healthy roster than we're used to, and now I think we're
15:57 in a position to give us the best chance to compete in our conference as well as nationally."
16:04 Just less question marks across the board.
16:06 He went on to speak about the COVID year and what that did and everything else from there
16:10 on out.
16:12 I think Penn State is that team, and Adam would agree with me, that can beat Ohio State
16:16 and Michigan.
16:17 A lot of people will say it's Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State because Ohio State has
16:21 I think a lot more question marks than that of Penn State.
16:24 I'm questioning what's going to happen on that offensive line.
16:27 We're questioning what's going to happen at quarterback.
16:29 The defensive backs were already a question mark a year ago, and now you're going into
16:33 a situation where you have the target on your back once again with I think less weapons
16:39 than maybe a year ago that are at least established there at The Ohio State.
16:43 Penn State, Franklin, healthy squad, a lot of depth.
16:46 That's a team that, whether it's the odds that you're betting on or potentially you're
16:51 a Penn State fan, should have a lot of optimism at Happy Valley that you could maybe be the
16:55 team that knocks out Ohio State or Michigan this season.
17:02 At number three, we have Maryland head coach Mike Lonsley.
17:07 I have been critical of Mike Lonsley in the past.
17:11 Last year, amazing year.
17:13 Round of applause, man.
17:15 Round of applause.
17:17 This dude has been amazing.
17:19 Now I'm going to tell you what, I'm always transparent on this show.
17:22 I am.
17:24 This is the life that we live.
17:25 I'm going to interrupt the Big Ted show for this text because I think it can relate to
17:30 people.
17:31 I just got a text from a friend of the family that has a son that hangs out with my son.
17:39 They're all hanging out right now.
17:40 I just got the text, "Is it okay for your son to have a happy meal?"
17:44 Yes, feed my children.
17:48 Feed my children as much as humanly possible.
17:50 Take them to McDonald's.
17:52 I want to put yes, Y-E-S in big letters.
17:55 I did this on local radio.
17:56 I've done this on national radio.
17:58 I interject my life with everyone else's lives because we all go through it and we get interrupted
18:03 in our jobs sometimes based on our children.
18:06 The text I just got was, "Can your kid have a happy meal?"
18:09 Yes, feed my child 100%.
18:12 Go ahead.
18:13 Now, you know what I have to do now?
18:14 I have to go back to my notes because I had to send that text.
18:17 Mike Lonsley, back to Lonsley.
18:19 He deserves a round of applause.
18:21 Last year was amazing.
18:22 I don't know if I'd go this far though with Mike Lonsley.
18:26 If you look at the record prior to last year, it was crap.
18:31 It wasn't good.
18:32 I don't know how he kept his job sometimes.
18:34 I don't know how he got another job, to be honest with you.
18:37 But he did.
18:38 He's great work by the Maryland administration for believing in Mike Lonsley.
18:44 Listen, sometimes the outside doesn't know his shit.
18:47 In this case, I probably did.
18:50 I probably didn't know what I needed to.
18:53 Here we go.
18:55 Our program is at a point finally we can say we are going to compete for Big Ten Championships.
19:02 You haven't heard me say that in previous four times I've been in front of you guys,
19:06 but I think now is the time.
19:09 I think he feels good about what Purdue did last year.
19:12 I think he feels good that they're going to be eventually going to non-divisions and take
19:16 the top two teams.
19:17 Although me and Adam, we talked about this.
19:19 I'd like to see like a top six playoff.
19:21 Top two teams get a bye, three, four, five, and six play.
19:25 Winners move on to take on one and two.
19:27 Bam, we get like a little short-term version of a playoff.
19:32 But if we don't go to that, it's going to be the top two teams in the conference that
19:34 are going to play for the championship.
19:35 And he sees opportunity there.
19:37 Think of how the schedule shakes out, what they can do by building that momentum there,
19:43 Maryland.
19:44 Listen, the Beltway is a great place to recruit.
19:46 I don't think people realize how much good football is in that Virginia area, in that
19:50 Maryland area.
19:52 There is a ton of great high school football players.
19:55 And I think if you're Maryland, you've always had the slick uniforms.
20:00 Adam calls them race car helmets, but they can have some good football.
20:04 And for their sake, they're going to have to do so by not having turnovers, by, you
20:11 know, in games where they're 14-point underdogs, pulling off the upset.
20:16 That's how you eventually start to gain that traction.
20:21 And Maryland, they are not on track right now to win Big Ten championships.
20:25 Sorry, Mike.
20:26 But I do believe you are in such a better place now than you were three years ago that
20:31 you deserve a round of applause.
20:32 We've got two more to go here.
20:34 Harbaugh suspension at number two.
20:37 We all heard this news, four games, going to miss the start of the season based on some
20:42 NCAA investigation.
20:44 I have a philosophy about the NCAA.
20:47 They're an organization that can make as much money as humanly possible off the backs of
20:51 student athletes until they no longer can.
20:55 And I don't buy anything at the top that they're selling us about the betterment of student
21:00 athletes, whether it's NIL, Transfer Portal.
21:03 Crap, you guys lost power and you're pissed about it.
21:07 I do think that in this case, Harbaugh is getting railroaded into a stupid situation
21:11 that he has to miss games because he didn't want to talk to the NCAA about buying a cheeseburger
21:15 or whatever the hell it was.
21:17 Jim Harbaugh shouldn't be suspended for a damn game.
21:20 And I don't have a problem if he flips the double bird sometimes to the NCAA with his
21:24 quirkiness because he doesn't like the way that they operate.
21:26 I feel that way.
21:27 I think a lot of fans do.
21:29 I've always been a proponent that we get rid of the NCAA at the Power Five level.
21:32 They have autonomy anyways.
21:34 Let them run the show.
21:36 From an enforcement standpoint, whatever.
21:38 That's probably not going to happen.
21:40 Regardless, don't care.
21:42 They have dropped the ball on so many investigations over the years that it just makes no sense
21:47 to me that they continue to have this power, at least at that level.
21:51 Now I've heard from coaches and administrators that the D2 level, the D3 level, it's a different
21:55 world.
21:56 We're talking about the Big Ten and the Power Five.
21:57 It's a different world there too.
21:59 And so I feel that in this case, Harbaugh is getting screwed over.
22:02 He couldn't talk about it last week.
22:05 He dodged Pete Dammel's question, which was so eloquently put.
22:08 I thought a great job by Pete of ESPN.
22:11 But I think it's a meaningless suspension that they did to show that they can still
22:15 wave the iron fist of power.
22:18 I don't care.
22:19 Harbaugh should be coaching, shouldn't be suspended.
22:22 Find him and move on.
22:23 And number one, Matt Rule.
22:24 And this is where I'm going to play Adam.
22:26 By the way, I've been lifting weights, Adam.
22:28 Kidding.
22:29 I've been picking up my kids.
22:30 That's what I consider lifting weights.
22:31 Maybe doing a couple of things in the yard.
22:33 Matt Rule.
22:34 There will be a time when Nebraska football, excuse me.
22:37 There was a time when Nebraska football was feared.
22:39 And we certainly want to get back to that.
22:41 And Matt Rule, head coach of Nebraska, year one, turned around Temple, turned around Baylor,
22:48 went to the Panthers, didn't work out, back in college where he belongs.
22:52 There was a time when Nebraska football was feared.
22:54 We certainly want to get back to that.
22:56 And I ask you the question, is it reasonable?
22:58 I'm going to be Adam for a second.
23:01 Do you smell what Nebraska's cooking?
23:04 I believe Nebraska's going to find themselves back being feared.
23:10 Because when you think of football, you think of Nebraska.
23:14 Blackshirts, Osborne, Frazier, Carriker.
23:19 You think of Lincoln, Memorial Stadium.
23:22 And you think of championships.
23:25 Championships that we won by being feared.
23:28 I believe that Nebraska football is going to get back to being feared.
23:35 It may not be this year, but Jeff, it will be sooner rather than later.
23:44 I've got it with Adam, the Jeff turn verse.
23:47 I think football is the best when Nebraska's good.
23:50 I grew up as a Miami Hurricane fan, not liking Nebraska, because all my friends did.
23:55 I still have always had respect for the program.
23:57 And I think when I really gained a different level of respect for the program was after the glory days.
24:03 It was when I was working at Sirius XM College Sports Nation for the great Bill King.
24:07 And we were based out of Nashville.
24:10 Worldwide show on Sirius XM.
24:12 And other than some of the SEC calls from the MAMA folks, the LSU folks at the time,
24:17 the program that checked in the most was Nebraska.
24:21 I was always shocked that we were getting a call from Kearney, Nebraska.
24:25 Lincoln, Nebraska. Omaha, Nebraska.
24:28 Fans from all over the country driving truck that loved Nebraska.
24:32 And that was back in like '08, '09, 2010.
24:34 That's not when they were in their glory days.
24:36 But that's still the brand that exists in this college football landscape.
24:41 When Nebraska's right, they can get people to go there.
24:44 The middle of Nebraska in the cornfields, they have a brand that resonates with the parents of these kids.
24:50 And they have all the resources in the world.
24:52 Gorgeous stadium, one of the nicest game day experiences you'll ever have,
24:56 and a place that loves college football.
24:58 So will they get back sooner rather than later?
25:00 I believe they will under Matt Ruhle.
25:02 Will they once again be feared?
25:04 I think they will.
25:06 They got to have some luck bounce their way because they had way too many one-score games with Scott Frost.
25:13 And there were some inadequacies in regards to his tenure.
25:16 But at the end of the day, Nebraska's on the right track with Matt Ruhle.
25:20 Love his offseason so far.
25:22 Ten storylines from Media Day.
25:24 We'll see what Adam thinks of my impersonation.
25:26 He'll be back next week.
25:28 We're going to dive into that slate of games that NBC released from the Big Ten
