SI Fan All Dolphins publisher Alain Poupart and columnist Omar Kelly break down everything that happened during the third practice of the 2023 training camp, including a dominating performance by the defense and struggles everywhere on offense, Tyreek Hill's slow start to camp, and more.
Transcript
00:00 Hi everyone, welcome to yet another episode of the All Dolphins podcast on YouTube.
00:07 The Miami Dolphins Insider, wherever you get your podcasts.
00:10 Today is training camp day three, practice three, however you want to say it, Omar.
00:16 And you are looking mighty blue.
00:18 I am looking mighty blue in a blue room.
00:20 How about that?
00:21 And I guess there's some Dolphin fans may be feeling blue.
00:24 So perhaps it's appropriate because we just got news not too long ago.
00:28 Jalen Ramsey's surgery indeed as suspected involved a full repair of the meniscus in
00:35 his left knee, which is going to keep him out probably until December.
00:39 Doing the math, their first game in December is December 3rd against the Washington Commanders.
00:46 That's game number 12, which basically means he's out for 11 out of 17.
00:53 Somebody can do the math.
00:55 Obviously it's a big blow.
00:57 And again, there was a big blow when he was injured.
00:59 We kind of figured it wasn't necessarily going to be a one or two day thing.
01:05 Yeah, I didn't look at him and say he's going to be back on the practice field in a week.
01:13 Maybe not even a month, maybe not even two, but December is harsh.
01:19 But you know, it could be worse.
01:20 It could be an ACL tear.
01:21 It could be done for the whole season.
01:23 So look on the bright side if you're a Dolphin fan.
01:27 It's man up.
01:28 That's the mentality that people always have to have in football.
01:32 Right now you've got, you know, I am, and as I wrote in an all dolphins.com column-ish
01:40 thing about the candidates and the options that the Miami Dolphins have to replace Jalen
01:46 Phillips, this happens to be probably the only unit on-
01:52 Jalen Ramsey.
01:53 Sorry, Jalen Ramsey.
01:54 Let me correct you real quick.
01:55 You said Jalen Phillips.
01:56 Okay.
01:57 Go ahead.
01:58 Jalen Ramsey.
01:59 Jalen Ramsey.
02:00 Cornerback happens to be the only position where I think they're good on depth on defense.
02:08 Cross the board.
02:09 They have a lot of edge defenders, if we're going to be honest about it.
02:13 Well, the fact that I don't-
02:16 You've got brother Chubb, Jalen Phillips, Andrew Van Ginkle, Emmanuel Agba, Malik Reed.
02:23 They have a lot of guys at edge defender.
02:25 Okay, sure.
02:26 Okay.
02:27 I mean, you know, those guys you feel comfortable starting, not to say that we're going to stay
02:35 here forever.
02:37 And you know I don't like one of those players as an edge.
02:40 No, but obviously Phillips, Chubb, Emmanuel Agba.
02:45 If Van Ginkle was a starter in a short-term capacity, I would have no issue with him.
02:50 You know I like the guy a lot.
02:53 I think their depth at the edge defender position is comparable to what they have at cornerback.
02:58 But by all means, you had the floor.
03:03 Between Cam Smith, Trill Williams, Cater Kohu going to the boundary and then you're replacing
03:10 him at the nickel with Nick Needham when he finally comes back.
03:15 Noah Igbenagany, who shouldn't be overlooked and might even get equal opportunity to prove
03:24 himself considering he's a first-round pick.
03:27 We all know how Chris Greer is with his first-round picks and his early draft picks.
03:31 They get clear favoritism.
03:35 And you know, I think you have some options.
03:38 Keon Crossan, whenever he comes back from his injury, you do have some options.
03:43 It's your deepest position on defense.
03:47 So now the question is can any of those guys step up?
03:52 And you clearly are going to now consider shadowing Xavier in again.
03:57 I'm sure he's going to be a huge fan of that.
04:01 And you know, this is an opportunity for guys to make a name for themselves.
04:07 Last year, Cater Kohu did it.
04:09 Look where his career is headed.
04:11 Nick Needham did it four years ago.
04:15 Anybody's ball game.
04:16 We can even throw in Bonner, Ethan Bonner.
04:22 You want to be an NFL player, Ethan Bonner?
04:24 Here's your chance.
04:25 You had a good play against Tariq Hill yesterday.
04:30 You have just as much of an opportunity as Cater Kohu.
04:33 Yeah, and here's the thing that everybody has to understand, which should be kind of
04:38 obvious, but I'm going to say it anyway because sometimes I like to be Captain Obvious.
04:42 But regardless of what the Dolphins have on their roster and the fact that they have guys
04:46 who can be capable of handling the position, I mean, Jalen Ramsey is an elite, all-pro
04:54 type cornerback.
04:55 You're not going to get the same kind of performance out of whoever lines up there.
04:59 Just like if X goes out, if Tariq Hill goes out, I mean, these guys are elite and they
05:04 get paid the big bucks for a reason.
05:06 So having said all that, and what your story on alldolphins.com looked at was the in-house
05:14 option.
05:15 Mike McDaniel, when he spoke about Jalen Ramsey on Friday morning before practice, said they're
05:19 going to bring in some guys for workouts.
05:20 Yeah.
05:21 A little bit later on today on alldolphins.com, Dante Colonelli has a look at some of the
05:27 veteran options around the league who also could be brought in.
05:31 And I think one factor we have to consider here, and that to me is a little bit of a
05:36 mystery is Cater started games, unless my memory severely fails me, both on the boundary
05:42 and in the slot last year.
05:44 Yeah, it usually doesn't fail you.
05:47 Thank you.
05:48 I don't know about you, I kind of like him better in the slot.
05:52 Yes, absolutely.
05:53 Okay.
05:54 And I think ideally the Dolphins would love to find an answer other than having to resort
06:01 to Cater on the boundary to keep him in the slot.
06:04 And unless Nick Needham is ready to start practicing and play, then Nick Needham can
06:08 be either a backup in the slot or he can line up outside.
06:11 But in the case of Needham, I also think he's better in the slot than he is on the boundary.
06:17 All excellent points.
06:19 Cater has the potential to be a star at the slot position.
06:24 He probably has the potential to be an NFL starter at the boundary position.
06:28 I want to see him develop as a, and I also, I want to see him develop as a nickel cornerback.
06:35 Now what he might want could also factor into this as well.
06:40 He might say, raise his hand and say, I want to be in the mix for this boundary spot because
06:46 the boundary spot plays a thousand snaps, nickel spot plays 700.
06:51 And also I think the Dolphins have to factor in when you, you know, even though Mike McDaniel
06:56 said they're going to bring in some nickels, I mean some, some cornerbacks, I think it's,
07:00 they're going to have to bring in some nickels because the sound of it with Keon Cross and
07:05 going for probably a second opinion sounds like he might be down for a little while too.
07:12 So, and he's the backup nickel.
07:15 He's the third string nickel when you factor in.
07:17 Yeah.
07:18 If you count Needham.
07:19 He's a third string nickel behind Nick Needham.
07:21 So you need a backup nickel.
07:24 Now if you're even going to consider moving Keon Cross into the boundary, so, and nickel
07:29 is a very specific position and it's, if we're going to be real and honest about it, it's
07:34 harder to play than the boundary because all you've got is receivers running option routes.
07:40 They do whatever they want to do.
07:42 And you're closer to the line of scrimmage.
07:44 You're going to closer to the box.
07:46 You're going to have to be more physical, more contact involved.
07:48 Yeah.
07:49 I said it.
07:50 Nickel is harder to play than the boundary.
07:51 Well, you also don't have the sideline to help you.
07:53 So, and we, we watched those one-on-one passing drills where, which wide receiver against
07:58 defensive back.
08:00 And sometimes I saw there was one play today that's, I mean, you're talking about cater
08:03 had one, but there's also one where Javon Holland is lined up across from Braxton barriers
08:08 was in the slot and barriers at an out move.
08:10 And Holland was like, I mean, on top of him and, and those drills, basically the defenders
08:15 have to defend half the field.
08:16 And if you don't think it's major league, big time advantage for the receiver, you're
08:21 crazy.
08:22 And whenever the Dolph, the defenders make and make a play on those.
08:25 I mean, tip of the hat, that's great work.
08:27 And cater did a great job during that particular session.
08:30 If you recall.
08:31 Yeah.
08:32 Cater had a big deflection in one-on-ones and keep in mind the dolphins put out a high
08:36 line on one-on-ones.
08:37 Eric, who's a comma, catching a, a pretty deep ball pass from, from two, a ton of a
08:45 lower in one-on-ones.
08:47 And let me preface this by saying, I don't care about one-on-one passes unless the defender
08:53 wins because it's a drill that is strategically set up for the defender to take an L 80% of
09:00 the time.
09:02 So whenever the defender makes a nice play, that's the news, you know, or when a receiver
09:10 drops a play, just like, just like, you know, we talked about this earlier on the podcast
09:14 red zone plays.
09:15 Yeah.
09:16 You're going to get seven touchdown day.
09:19 Like it's, it's what happens a one-on-one a receiver.
09:24 All he's doing is just running to where the quarterback isn't going.
09:27 It's, and then the quarterback's job is to find them.
09:32 So Cater made the, probably the play of practice during one-on-ones, a deep ball.
09:40 He was clearly beaten by Waddle, recovered, knocked it out in the end zone.
09:46 Yup.
09:47 PBU.
09:48 Correct.
09:49 Saving a touchdown.
09:51 And that, but that was one of the few highlights for the defense.
09:54 I joke, I kid.
09:56 It was, I mean, it was holy moly.
09:58 I don't recall a practice where the defense completely, I mean, I'm trying to find the
10:06 right words and say it nicely.
10:07 I mean, slapped around the offense, like, like nobody's business.
10:11 Him slapped.
10:12 That's the right word.
10:13 Holy moly.
10:15 So the way it was, it was an exhibition of sheer dominance and the smack talking at the
10:28 end of it.
10:29 Christian walking the mile.
10:30 We finally got, you know, you've always heard about how much Christian talks and how much
10:36 crap he talks during, you know, games.
10:40 But just to watch him verbally abuse an entire offense for practice, what I did not like
10:47 is that he targeted all his viral comments at like a section of slot, Braxton Berrios
10:56 and the boys section of slot receivers and receivers that I don't even know their name.
11:01 When the running backs were sitting, right.
11:03 We're standing right there.
11:05 The running backs after every play he made, and he made a lot of dominant plays.
11:09 He could have just pointed to the running backs and talked his crap to the running backs.
11:13 No, he changed his angle of direction.
11:16 And I'm guessing it was because they, somebody on offense celebrated and cheered a Jeff Wilson
11:25 run that me and Nick Chubb have a slight disagreement.
11:29 Yeah.
11:30 Being Bradley Chubb.
11:32 I thought it was the best play of practice for the offense.
11:35 It was at least I gave it an eight yard run.
11:39 Chubb said he set the edge.
11:41 He stopped play.
11:42 It would have been a two yard run.
11:45 You said he was blocked.
11:47 Is that correct?
11:48 You look like he was engaged by the time Wilson was running by him or running next to him.
11:54 Yeah, I wasn't.
11:55 I wasn't buying when he said, oh yeah, two yard run, two yard run.
11:58 I was like, really?
11:59 Yeah, no.
12:00 They got, they got angry because the offense celebrated.
12:03 It was a clear running lane to me.
12:06 Probably the best I've seen in a while.
12:09 It was a nice run.
12:11 Chubb's like BS.
12:13 And I understood where he came from.
12:15 But from that moment where Chubb was like, y'all, I'd never heard anybody celebrate and
12:20 cheer a two yard run.
12:22 Oh, okay.
12:23 It's on.
12:24 From that point, practice was over.
12:28 It was just abusive.
12:31 How sack after sack after sack dominance.
12:34 No, it was.
12:36 And it was, as I wrote in my training camp observations on all dolphins.com, it was like
12:41 a combination.
12:42 Some of them were coverage sacks where he was either two hours, Kyler, Mike White couldn't
12:46 find anybody open and pressure was against him.
12:48 Some of them were blitzes that weren't getting picked up.
12:50 And some of them were just a defensive lineman completely beating whoever was trying to protect
12:55 him.
12:56 I think we all had Zach Seeler with multiple sacks, Christian Wilkins, Bradley Chubb, Duke
13:00 Riley.
13:03 All of us, I mean, the definition of a sack can be different from one reporter to another
13:10 because obviously once the defenders get close to the quarterback, they stop or whatever.
13:16 I think all of us can agree was double digits.
13:19 Some guys universally came to 12.
13:22 We all came to 12.
13:25 And I think there was probably more than 12 because guys like who was Bronson?
13:31 Because I have Bronson.
13:32 I had him.
13:34 I had 11 documented, but if somebody is going to tell me 12.
13:39 You have Christian Wilkins at two and no, you have Riley at two and I have him at three.
13:45 Correct.
13:46 And I mean, I don't I also don't share sacks during practice.
13:49 Oh, yeah, I do.
13:50 I had one where there was one play where it's literally Christian Wilkins and Zach Seeler
13:54 both came in like this and like both basically met at the quarterback and in a game who would
14:00 have brought him down.
14:01 I don't know.
14:02 Maybe somebody would have gotten him quicker, but I give it to the guy who gets there first.
14:05 So I don't I I'm not going to share it.
14:08 I'm not going to share a sack in a would be sack in a practice.
14:13 That's because you're a selfish person.
14:14 Oh, Marcy, I like to share.
14:17 So if I feel like the past play could potentially be a Dolphins highlight play and you know
14:26 how that works, then and not count it as a sack.
14:31 If there's a if it's in the gray area, I'm not going to give it a sack because then when
14:36 fans look at the highlight that the Dolphins clip up as part of the marketing and put that
14:41 out there, they're like, oh, you didn't mention this play.
14:45 It's wonderful throw my tour or Skyler or whatever.
14:51 So if it's even close, I'm going to say and the ball is caught.
14:56 Now, if the ball isn't caught, it hits in the sack category.
15:00 But if the ball is caught, I'll be like, I can't count it.
15:04 Is that where you apply the Cedric Wilson catch on the sideline after to face a lot
15:08 of pressure and eventually rolled out?
15:12 Why are you bringing up that play?
15:14 That led to a very heated exchange.
15:17 I'm not having a discussion.
15:18 You think I want to have it?
15:20 It was just the highlight.
15:21 The fact that it was a great catch by Cedric Wilson on the sideline where he went up, kept
15:25 his feet in bounds before he fell, which would have been a completion, except that the play
15:30 began with a lot of pressure on to it before he got out of the pocket, rolled out and made
15:34 the throw.
15:35 That's all I did not mention.
15:37 That's all I'm going to say about it.
15:38 I'm not having that conversation.
15:40 I did not mention that it was a great showcase of his arm because he rolled to the left through
15:47 with his left hand.
15:49 It was a rope.
15:50 I mean, it was a rope.
15:51 It was a good throw.
15:52 I don't recall having that conversation.
15:53 It was a good throw.
15:54 No, no.
15:55 The conversation was, I said there was a lot of pressure, but he skirted out the pocket
16:02 to the left and rolled out.
16:05 After he would have been sacked maybe three times.
16:07 This is what I will.
16:08 I don't want to have this conversation.
16:10 It was a nice roll out of that thing.
16:12 Like it was like a surfer on a wave.
16:14 He just came right on through.
16:17 There is a potential that he could have been sacked, but there is also, if you will admit,
16:23 was there a potential for him to have escaped that play?
16:28 There is not one person, media member who was up there watching practice, who did not
16:33 call that a sack.
16:34 Even at the time you said that was a sack and you discounted Cedric Wilson's nice catch.
16:38 You are right.
16:40 You are absolutely right.
16:42 I did discount it.
16:43 I did count it as a sack.
16:44 Because it was a sack.
16:45 Okay.
16:46 But there was a potential for him to, it was a great showcase of his mobility, accuracy
16:52 on the move, and the fact that it was a dart.
16:59 About 15 yards down the field.
17:01 Whoa, whoa, whoa.
17:02 It is about a 20 yard pass.
17:03 Simmer down with 50 yards.
17:04 I said 15.
17:05 15.
17:06 Oh, you said 15.
17:07 I said 15.
17:08 You said 50.
17:09 I was like, okay.
17:10 No, no.
17:11 Absolutely.
17:12 Zero argument there.
17:13 What they would show as a highlight is a hell of a catch.
17:17 I mean, literally he had to go up to catch it and then jump back with his feet and bounce.
17:23 It was definitely highlight worthy material for Tua and for Cedric Wilson.
17:29 If we are going to cut up a clip, I think as a marketer, for both of those individuals
17:37 based on an 11-11 portion of practice, that was a highlight.
17:40 Now in fairness, it probably would have been a sack.
17:45 Agree on all points.
17:46 Agree on all points.
17:47 Okay.
17:48 Let's move on.
17:49 The bottom line in all of this is the pass rush completely dominated the practice.
17:54 It wasn't even-
17:55 No, not pass rush.
17:56 And I don't think it's fair to say pass rush.
17:58 Big fan, Joe, they brought out the blitz package.
18:01 They-
18:02 Pass rush?
18:03 No.
18:04 The blitz is not part of the pass rush.
18:06 No, no, no.
18:07 I don't think...
18:08 I don't think...
18:09 I always look at the day-
18:10 It's a form of pass rushing.
18:13 Either you rush the passer with only your guys up front or you blitz.
18:16 It's still the pass rush.
18:17 No.
18:18 If you're trying to surprise guys like, "Surprise!
18:21 This guy's coming."
18:22 That's not pass rush.
18:25 What Duke Riley was doing was not pass rush.
18:27 Duke Riley was blitzing.
18:30 And so I put blitzing in a different category.
18:33 It was the element of surprise.
18:35 It required the offensive line and the quarterback and the center and the backs and the tight
18:40 ends to all read what was going on and make the line calls, make the adjustments, slide
18:46 the protection.
18:48 And they got an F today.
18:49 All of them.
18:50 Everybody.
18:51 The coach, Mike McDaniel, whoever was calling plays.
18:56 I put it on Mike McDaniel.
18:58 Okay.
18:59 Tua, because the protections...
19:00 He certainly wasn't identifying guys saying, "Duke's blitzing.
19:05 Slide the protection in."
19:06 There was none of that going on, which is why me and Perkins were in agreement on this
19:16 that this is not a failure on...
19:20 This is not like, "Oh, this is such a great day for the defensive line.
19:23 They're just sheer dominance."
19:24 Which is why I would say if it was pass rushing, I would say sheer dominance.
19:28 No.
19:29 They got an F because identification was not being done.
19:34 Wilkins didn't dominate the line of scrimmage.
19:36 Zach Seiler didn't dominate...
19:37 Okay.
19:38 They did at the very end.
19:39 At the very end.
19:40 They did.
19:41 Hell, were you watching, my man?
19:42 Okay.
19:43 They did at the very end.
19:44 No question about it.
19:45 They did at the very end.
19:48 Okay.
19:49 I'll buy what you're selling, but part of it, again, the blitz to me, yes, it's part
19:54 of the pass rush.
19:55 And from both that standpoint and the standpoint of the defensive line just rushing with the
20:01 guys up front clearly dominated the day.
20:05 It wasn't even funny.
20:08 And then, like I wrote too, the number of good throws or completions, I mean, you probably
20:14 can count on one hand.
20:15 The one since, and I'm going to be fair since I like Mike White's work and practice Thursday,
20:23 today he wasn't good.
20:24 There were a couple, two throws that are to me should be pitch and catch throws where
20:27 the receivers running across the field, maybe 10, 15 yards.
20:31 And he threw behind them on both occasions where he tried and allowed the DB to break
20:36 up a pass where that opportunity shouldn't have been there.
20:40 There was also one play.
20:42 I don't remember the quarterback, whether it was Skyler Thompson or Mike White.
20:46 Can't remember.
20:47 It was one of those two.
20:48 I think it was 19 where Tariq was wide open.
20:52 Tariq got behind the safety, was open, could have turned on the afterburner.
20:56 All you had to do was put it out there.
20:59 Now the problem with that and saying that is the safety wasn't that far behind.
21:05 You'd have to have lead Tariq and I'm not sure that any of them have that arm.
21:12 And so it turned down into a check down to, I believe, a tight end.
21:16 And I was just like, yeah, I was just like, man, that's a wasted opportunity.
21:21 Right there.
21:22 Yeah.
21:23 It's one of those where and you can do that with Tariq.
21:27 You know, the old saying, if we're even, I'm leaving with Tariq, he could even be three
21:34 yards in front of the DB.
21:36 And you still, if you lead him enough, he's going to get behind them and make the catch.
21:40 And but that takes, you know, it takes a lot of, you know, belief and trust in what's going
21:47 on.
21:48 And again, we don't know what they're being taught to do.
21:51 I don't know if they're taught to like, don't throw it unless you see him, you know, open
21:55 or what?
21:56 Clearly open.
21:57 Question for you.
21:59 Go ahead.
22:00 I did write this in all dolphins.com yesterday as one of my takeaways.
22:07 Tariq Hill, what yesterday I wrote, Tariq Hill has had two mediocre days of practice.
22:12 I'm not sure he caught anything in team today.
22:15 Oh, he did.
22:17 On a play where Skyler Thompson showed very good pocket presence.
22:21 And I have to go there.
22:25 You don't remember the play.
22:26 He stepped up in the pocket.
22:27 He had pressure coming in on both sides.
22:28 He stepped up and he threw a pass to the numbers to his right.
22:32 And it was about 20 yards downfield and it was a completion.
22:36 It was a good play.
22:37 And I thought about the pocket presence is what a quarterback should do when he's getting
22:40 pressure on on both sides.
22:42 It was a nice play.
22:43 It was a one completion.
22:45 Yeah, he was kind of not terribly noticeable.
22:50 And again, we bring him up because.
22:52 I mean, he's the key guy on offense.
22:54 And last year he completely utterly dominated training camp.
22:58 And we're not even close to seeing that so far.
23:00 Yeah, he dominated every day.
23:03 Yeah.
23:04 He made him.
23:05 I mean, you wouldn't walk away from you'd walk away from practice and he'd probably
23:08 have at the least 60 yards on a bad day.
23:13 I'm not sure he's probably at 100 in three days of practice.
23:18 I agree.
23:19 No, anyway, it was like I was shaking my head.
23:22 Mind you, that was my first exposure in a training camp with Tyreek Hill.
23:26 Yes.
23:27 And it was like, holy smokes, is this guy good?
23:29 But now he looks like he's a fast wide receiver, but he doesn't look like like anything special.
23:35 He doesn't look like a fast wide receiver.
23:37 And I don't want to I don't want to make too much of it, but it's it's very noticeable.
23:43 This isn't the same Tyreek that we saw last training camp because like defensive backs
23:51 were like terrified of him to the point where if he moved, you saw everybody start to back
23:56 up.
23:57 Now, it could be the defense.
23:59 The zone coverage could be impacting him.
24:04 It could be he didn't practice in OTAs.
24:06 He said he had some soft tissue injury.
24:09 Could be.
24:10 I would love to know what he's clocking on the field right now, because last practice
24:15 last year he was clocking 22 and two miles per hour.
24:20 Even on one on ones.
24:21 Did you see him roast anybody?
24:24 I didn't see him on one on ones, to be honest with you.
24:27 Hold on.
24:28 No, I did see.
24:29 Yeah, no, I did.
24:30 Actually, he was he's one on one against X on one of the.
24:33 Oh, yeah.
24:34 Yes.
24:35 And he got behind him.
24:36 He didn't connect.
24:37 Yeah, right.
24:38 I remember that.
24:39 OK, those were on the quarterback because he was I think he was open on two plays and
24:43 one on one and quarterbacks didn't connect with him.
24:46 I remember any other one, but I do remember that one.
24:49 It was X and it was another receiver.
24:51 I can't remember.
24:53 Maybe Noah.
24:54 And here's the thing.
24:55 I refuse to believe for even a millisecond that if there was anything wrong whatsoever
25:02 with Tyreek's lower body, whether it's hamstring, groin, quad, ankle, any of the sort that he'd
25:09 be out there practicing.
25:11 I refuse to believe that.
25:13 All right.
25:14 So that's true.
25:15 Knowing the history of the Miami Dolphins, you're absolutely correct.
25:18 Now, can you explain to me why he's been.
25:21 Lackluster the last three days.
25:23 And then what is your theory?
25:25 I don't know.
25:29 I don't know.
25:30 I mean, he talked.
25:31 I mean, I don't know.
25:32 I don't want to diagnose from here.
25:37 And I know somebody could easily point out to does he have too many things going on outside
25:41 of football?
25:42 Whereas last year, last year he came in with a purpose.
25:45 He just he got the bag.
25:47 He came into a new team.
25:48 He wanted to get a.
25:50 Wanted to be a leader and all that.
25:52 And he was hard.
25:54 Wanted to set the tone for practice.
25:56 Correct.
25:57 And then this year, what did he talk about in the office?
26:00 In his media session earlier this week, talk about wanting to travel the world, see different
26:05 countries.
26:06 You know, what's the point of earning a lot of money if you're not going to spend it?
26:12 He's got the soul runner brand.
26:15 He's got doing stuff on Twitch.
26:17 Yeah, but you know what he said?
26:19 He says he says he's he says that he knows the offense now.
26:25 Pupard, he was just out there freestyling last year.
26:30 Yeah.
26:31 OK.
26:32 Yeah, I know you don't believe it.
26:35 I actually believe it.
26:36 No, I actually don't think Tyree talks for effect a lot.
26:40 I haven't covered him enough to tell you that.
26:43 So so I don't know.
26:45 You know, you would know more.
26:47 Tyree talks for effect.
26:49 I mean, and it's he's great for us because you're going to give you a lot of things.
26:53 But a lot of things he says, I think they're they're meant to like.
26:57 I'm going to say I'm going to just shoot it out there, you know, and so, no, I'm not buying
27:01 that he didn't know how the offense last year when he.
27:04 No, sorry.
27:06 One thing I will say, I think this has more to do with this type of coverage that they're
27:11 doing.
27:12 And also, if I can piggyback on that, we're not seeing him as much in motion like he was.
27:19 We're not I don't think he's taking the reps that he took last year.
27:22 And I also don't see him as much in motion.
27:25 And when he was in motion last year, like everybody's like alert, alert, alert, back
27:31 up, back up, back up.
27:33 And we're not we're definitely not seeing that now.
27:35 Like I like the action that I was very good.
27:38 I was very good.
27:40 Yeah.
27:41 And we're definitely not seeing that.
27:43 I don't think the Dolphins here's another thing, too, is I don't think the Dolphins are concentrating
27:48 on going to him as much as they did last year.
27:51 And I think part of that was establishing their offense and all that was getting him
27:55 in rhythm with two, developing to his confidence as well.
27:59 And and if you like last year, the offense dominated training camp like nobody's business.
28:05 And I think a large part of that was it was a conscious effort.
28:09 This year might be more about, you know, evaluating everybody else because they already know what
28:14 they have with Tyreek.
28:15 The defensive coordinator also sucked last year.
28:17 Wow.
28:18 Did he not?
28:19 Didn't suck in the season opener against New England when they won twenty to seven.
28:23 Didn't suck against Buffalo in week three when they won, even though they did go they
28:27 give up a lot of yardage, but they came up big at crunch time.
28:30 Didn't suck in the Sunday night game against Pittsburgh when the offense struggle.
28:35 So yeah, the defense wasn't great, despite a lot of injuries.
28:38 Also, I am not into the dump on Josh Boyer camp.
28:42 Sorry, not not happening.
28:45 I know that I'm going to I'm going to say it again.
28:48 This is this.
28:49 This is our daily.
28:50 Sovanna Ahmed and Devon H.
28:52 Am at the same guy.
28:53 Update.
28:54 That's OK.
28:55 Let's move on to a different.
28:58 Yes.
29:00 We not what I decided that I'm going to differentiate them with clothing.
29:06 One was wearing orange shorts and one was wearing an orange shirt that escaped the shorts.
29:12 However, by the time practice ended, I forgot which one was which.
29:18 But they look the same.
29:20 They they're they're like the same dude.
29:23 And by the way, this is a point I saw this comment on YouTube.
29:26 Yes, a chain runs a faster 40 yard time than then Ahmed.
29:31 If they run the length of the field, a chain is going to win pretty easily when they get
29:36 they both get the ball on a carry and they're running, I don't know, five to ten yards.
29:41 The difference in the 40 yard dash of less than one one second over 40 yards on one tenth
29:47 of a second over 40 yards.
29:49 All right.
29:50 Sorry.
29:51 One tenth of a second in a span of five to ten yards.
29:53 You're not going to notice it.
29:54 OK, so sorry for those who get offended by that statement.
29:58 They look like the same guy.
30:00 I say this on the first day we did practice and we did this podcast.
30:05 If I told you that the play Savan Ahmed was making were really Devon H.A., you'd be screaming
30:13 from the mountaintops that H.A. needs to be the starting running back.
30:19 And Ahmed has looked like the best back in camp to me.
30:24 But I always have that opinion when they don't have pads on.
30:30 Then when they do put pads on, the guy vanishes.
30:34 It's been three years of the same thing for me.
30:36 So and that's coming Monday, by the way, the first first day of practice.
30:41 If he spends a week in pads practicing like he's practicing now, I'll be like, oh, snap.
30:49 OK, but I know what's going to happen.
30:52 History, you know, I'm one of those people.
30:55 History just keeps repeating.
30:56 Same thing I'll say with Noah Ibn Agni.
30:59 Noah should get first.
31:00 Good today.
31:01 He looked good today.
31:02 Wow.
31:03 The eye roll.
31:04 Listen, he looked good today.
31:05 Sorry.
31:06 Noah should get first crack at replacing Jaylon Ramsey.
31:07 And here's the reason why he should get first crack at replacing Jaylon Ramsey.
31:08 If you think about this from a coach's standpoint, you cannot elevate a rookie, then have him
31:09 struggle, then have to build up his confidence.
31:10 Great point.
31:11 You can't you can't put him out there against Tyreek.
31:12 Have him get chewed up.
31:13 You can't put him out there against Tyreek.
31:14 You can't put him out there against Tyreek.
31:15 You can't put him out there against Tyreek.
31:16 You can't put him out there against Tyreek.
31:17 You can't put him out there against Tyreek.
31:18 You can't put him out there against Tyreek.
31:19 You can't put him out there against Tyreek.
31:20 You can't put him out there against Tyreek.
