00:00 It's Tua time in Miami, but what about the timing?
00:03 I'm here now with the MMQB's Connor Orr.
00:05 And Connor, we knew that the Dolphins would go
00:07 to Tua Tungvaloa and they do have their bye week,
00:10 but they're sort of dealing with a mini reverse
00:13 quarterback controversy right now, right?
00:15 Because they were three and three
00:17 and Ryan Fitzpatrick was playing well.
00:19 - Yeah, I think he had as many yards
00:21 for attempt as Patrick Mahomes.
00:22 So it's not like he was playing poorly this year.
00:25 He put the team in a great position
00:26 where I think that they can still compete in the AFCs.
00:29 But I think this is just evidence
00:31 of a coach sticking with a plan.
00:33 I mean, I think no matter what,
00:34 they were always going to pivot to Tua at some point.
00:37 And I would argue that this makes them even more dangerous
00:40 because at this point, it's a version of the offense
00:42 that no one has seen and no one is really prepared
00:44 to stop right now.
00:46 - Yeah, and you get to see the true potential
00:49 of what Tua can provide.
00:51 Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick, do you think
00:52 there's a trade market for him out there?
00:55 - I think there certainly might be,
00:56 but the problem is I think Miami wants to hold onto him.
00:59 I think if you saw the sidelines this past weekend,
01:02 Ryan Fitzpatrick cheering for Tua
01:04 after touchdown throws that he made,
01:06 kind of taking Tua right under his arm
01:08 and showing him what he did, walking him through that,
01:10 walking him through the preparation, how to be a starter.
01:13 I think that's more valuable than any sort of
01:15 maybe a mid-round pick that you'd get back
01:17 for Ryan Fitzpatrick at this point.
01:19 And I think he's a major boost to Tua there as a mentor,
01:23 which was always part of the plan as well.
01:25 - So you think they'd say
01:26 this is the best possible quarterback situation
01:29 they could have because they get to ease Tua in,
01:31 now he's ready to go,
01:32 and they still have Fitzpatrick as insurance?
01:35 - Absolutely, yeah.
01:36 I think Miami's playing this really smart.
01:38 And remember, I mean, a lot of people saying
01:40 that they need this draft capital for Ryan Fitzpatrick
01:42 and they move him.
01:43 Miami's been great at acquiring draft picks
01:45 over the last few years.
01:46 They're stockpiled on draft picks.
01:48 I don't think that they need to just throw on
01:50 another one in the mix here
01:51 just to get rid of Ryan Fitzpatrick.
01:53 I think they think he's a very valuable person
01:55 there on the sideline.
01:57 - And now we're about to see how their most important draft
01:59 pick is going to perform.
02:01 Connor, appreciate your time as always.
