Wales headlines 28 July: Greyhound stadium expansion leaves campaigners ‘devastated’, Llanelli asylum hotel gets injunction, botched DIY repair kills motorcyclist

Anti-greyhound racing campaigners say they are devastated that Wales’ only purpose built track - The Valley Greyhound Stadium in Caerphilly county - has been given permission to expand. The news comes as the Welsh government say they are looking into a public consultation on banning the sport in Wales.

A hotel in Llanelli which has been subject to numerous protests outside its main entrance due to its housing of over 200 asylum seekers, has been granted an injunction. The high court decision means there are now limits to what the protesters can and can’t do outside the hotel.

A driver has been found guilty of causing the death of a motorcyclist after botched DIY repairs on his vehicle. 45 year old Terence Matthews was found to have tied his front bonnet onto the car using bungee cord, which flew open, causing Matthews to break suddenly, killing motorcyclist James Huxtable behind him.
