We speak to Paul Goodman of Unispare DIY at Jacky Whites Market
Transcript
00:00 You're getting personal service off the people who normally own the stores and they have
00:04 more of a vested interest and they're very helpful and they normally know what's going
00:09 on and they know what the competition is.
00:12 So like us we always like to be ultra competitive on whatever we sell and there's lots of choice
00:20 for everyone.
00:21 July is Independent Retailer Month and we've been speaking to some of the business owners
00:24 at Jackie White's Market in Sunderland.
00:26 Hi I'm Paul, the company is Unispare DIY, we've been in Jackie White's for, if my memory
00:33 is correct, 41 years this year, so quite a long time in the same spot.
00:39 We try to get everything our customers want in the DIY or electrical or vacuum repair
00:45 lines but we try to do all household and DIY.
00:49 I would say a lot of my customers are returning customers, some of them have been dealing
00:54 with three and four generations, so we've got mums, grandmas, granddaughters, you know
01:00 we've got a whole line of people coming in.
01:03 We always try and help people and give them honest advice.
01:05 A lot of shops you go to now, they'll hand you something and say that'll do and it clearly
01:11 won't do in a lot of cases, we won't sell anything that's not right.
