00:00 on the successful visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister
00:03 Davutogseli and Orin Graying to the Philippines in March 2023.
00:10 I believe that this is an opportune time
00:12 to harness the potentials of a revitalized relationship
00:16 between the Philippines and Malaysia.
00:19 The Philippines and Malaysia have long
00:21 enjoyed close economic ties, supported
00:24 by strong bilateral ties stretching back for decades.
00:29 Building on past successes, this state visit to Malaysia
00:33 aims to identify new areas of synergies
00:36 that can propel our partnership and serve
00:39 as a roadmap for our respective agencies
00:42 to work on for the mutual benefit of both our countries
00:47 and the peoples of the new century.
00:50 During this visit, I will have an audience
00:52 with His Majesty the King of Malaysia,
00:54 where we will discuss how we can further
00:57 deepen our partnerships through new areas of mutual interest.
01:02 I will also meet with His Excellency Prime Minister
01:05 Ang Moa to pursue areas of cooperation
01:08 in our agreed priority areas that
01:11 are aligned with our countries' respective economic agendas.
01:16 In order to assist our nation's project of economic growth
01:21 and to meet our economic target of 6.4% year-on-year GDP
01:26 growth this year, my visit will focus
01:30 on the renewed partnerships in the fields of agriculture,
01:33 food and security, digital economy, tourism,
01:37 people-to-people exchanges, as well as
01:39 explore new avenues for cooperation,
01:43 particularly in areas of the halal industry
01:46 and Islamic banking.
01:49 The halal industry is expected to grow
01:51 to a trillion-dollar industry in the international market,
01:55 as its global demand continues to expand.
01:58 Malaysia is one of the global leaders in this sector,
02:02 and this visit aims to forge synergies
02:06 with Malaysia for the Philippines
02:08 to enjoy a share of this market.
02:11 Given the multitude of sectors for economic cooperation
02:14 in Malaysia, I will be meeting with Malaysian business leaders
02:18 as well to showcase trade and investment opportunities.
02:23 I hope that through the investment forum, roundtable
02:27 discussions, and business meetings organized
02:30 by the Department of Trade and Industry,
02:33 we will build new bridges between our economies
02:36 and create inroads to new ventures
02:39 that will see our binational trade volumes
02:42 and investments increase.
02:45 And this brings me to my next point.
02:47 Malaysia is a host of thriving Filipino diaspora, many of whom
02:53 left their families to find work and live in Malaysia.
02:57 I will be meeting our hardworking kamabayans
03:00 in Malaysia to personally show the nation's care and protection
03:04 and reassure them that the government is continuously
03:07 working to ensure their safety and well-being.
03:12 It is also my belief that through the investments
03:15 we bring in from my various foreign visits,
03:18 soon our kamabayans will no longer
03:20 be forced to work abroad.
03:22 But we'll have a choice.
03:24 Go home and find suitable work in the Philippines
03:27 so that they may be re-remembered with their families.
