16:52 from the Seicentesca Fontana dei Draghi of Villa Mondragone in Monteporzio Catone, a few steps from Rome.
16:57 In the largest of the Tuscan villages and therefore return to Zampillare after over a century,
17:02 the water wells of the fountain, built for the will of Cardinal Scipione Borghese between 1618 and 1620.
17:09 The fountain is inaugurated by the rector of the University of Rome, Professor Nathan Levial di Ghiron,
17:14 with the presence of the Minister of Health, Horatio Schillaci.
17:17 The fountain returns to shine after the restoration work that was coordinated by the Ateneo and carried out
17:23 under the constant supervision of the Archaeological Superintendence, Fine Arts and Landscape of the Metropolitan Area of Rome and the Province of Rieti.
17:30 Today the inauguration of the Fontana dei Draghi is a very important moment for our Ateneo
17:34 because we give back to the community the possibility of enjoying a very beautiful property that has remained closed for a long time.
17:41 Villa Mondragone is part of the complex owned by the University of Tor Vergata
17:46 and is open to the public in the sense that we have the possibility of making it available
17:50 even in moments not strictly related to the purely scientific activity, that is, scientific dissemination,
17:55 but also through the possibility of making it available for guided tours, for school trips,
18:00 for people who intend to enjoy such a beautiful and important property in the cultural panorama
18:06 not only of the Lazio region but at the national level.
18:09 I am happy because it is an initiative that we started when I was a rector here
18:14 and it certainly enriches this beautiful villa,
18:20 which is a privilege for a university like Tor Vergata to have such an important property available.
18:26 I think it is good news, especially for the students,
18:31 who I hope can enjoy this further enrichment of a villa already unique in the world, let me say.
18:38 One of the many beauties we have in our nation.
18:40 I am also happy that it is an important university to have the privilege of having it available for all students.
18:47 Built entirely in stone and tufaci, called "Sperone del Tuscolo",
18:51 the fountain is now returned to the community,
18:53 which will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the masterpieces of art of the 16th century
18:57 in a country-age context of great suggestion,
19:00 rich in archaeological, artistic and architectural beauties.
19:03 A restoration that represents a further step forward
19:06 within a continuous process of recovery and enhancement of the Congress Center
19:10 and the University of the Studies of Rome Tor Vergata within the Villa Mondragone.
19:15 The restoration works that are completed today represent a starting point,
19:21 obviously, as well as an approach for Villa Mondragone.
19:27 After about 400 years, just over 400 years since the execution of the magnificent fountain of the Draghi,
19:36 these restoration works have restored their original function
19:43 and also the magnificence, the fountain, the terrace,
19:48 they rebuy their role as the original central fulcrum of the Villa
19:56 and therefore will allow us and future operators to benefit from a further path.
20:04 Works that have returned to the field of the regional board dedicated to the enhancement of the places of culture of Lazio
20:10 and that have received from the Lazio region a co-financing for a total import of 239,000 euros.
20:16 Funds that have allowed the conservative restoration of the fountain,
20:19 but also the realization of works of improvement of accessibility
20:23 for the safety and use by all visitors.
20:27 We have invested a considerable amount, which I must say was financed by the Lazio region
20:32 and the University has made available its skills and expertise,
20:35 both from an architectural and archaeological point of view,
20:39 to carry out and complete the restoration in the best possible way
20:42 according to all the standards provided for a work of this kind.
20:46 ProVita associations, gathered at the European Parliament in Brussels,
20:50 unanimously against the proposal on the transfrontal recognition of parenthood
20:55 presented by the European Commission and now at the examination of the Member States.
20:59 The text, according to the MEP Alessandra Basso, promoter of the event,
21:03 "overwhelms the official purposes without limiting access to surrogate motherhood,
21:08 an unacceptable practice", according to the MEP Leghista.
21:12 The practice of surrogacy is the reason why we are here this morning
21:18 to raise this issue and to pay close attention to this practice,
21:23 which is in line with the rights of the child, who is no longer subject to rights,
21:27 but an object of sale, and which is in line with the dignity of women,
21:32 who are willing to be incubators for money.
21:38 The ProVita front is compact in comparison to what the exponents of the associations
21:42 who intervened at the European Parliament define as a threat to the dignity of the person,
21:47 which transforms the right to the child into a right to the child,
21:50 subjecting human nature to free market.
21:53 A bell of alarm, which sounds above all in view of the next European elections,
21:58 in view of which the ProVita and Familia Aulus
22:01 ask the most attentive political parties to the protection of individual freedoms,
22:06 but also the most sensitive progressive parties to the subject,
22:09 to lay the foundations for the next European Parliament to protect the rights of children,
22:14 making the European Union a beacon of civility also on these issues.
22:18 We ask the European Union to be more careful
22:22 with respect to the founding principles of its entity,
22:27 in this case human dignity,
22:30 and therefore to have a focus on the protection of women's dignity
22:35 from the exploitation of the surrogacy market,
22:39 and above all a focus on the respect of the dignity of children
22:43 who cannot be sold and cannot even be given away.
