The debate over the origin of Covid has become toxic and deeply divisive in the context of whether it was a result of a laboratory leak in Wuhan, China, or a consequence of exotic food in Wuhan's wet market. Last week both the US Department of Energy, which is in charge of labs in America, and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director Christopher Wray sharpened the lab leak theory by saying the virus could have potentially leaked from a Wuhan lab. This is even as four US intelligence agencies disagreed with the assessment.

To get a perspective on the debate Mayank Chhaya Reports spoke to the well-known Australian immunologist, Dr Nikolai Petrovsky, among the few scientists to have suggested the lab leak as a possibility about two years ago.
