Family - A Song For Me 1970 (UK, Progressive Rock, Prog Folk)
The third album in the Family discography. It was released on January 23, 1970, and already on February 7, the album rose to # 4 in the UK Albums Chart , marking the group's highest achievement in the charts (in the US, still past). With the appearance of new members in the group: bassist / violinist John Weider (ex-Eric Burdon and The Animals) and especially the multi-instrumentalist
(keyboards, flute, vibraphone) "Poli" Palmer (ex-The Hellions, ex-Eclection) - the sound of the group has changed in comparison with previous works, from jazz and blues it has become closer to folk-rock, as well as to country, and the lyrics became simpler and clearer (Chapman's socio-political comments). But Chapman's voice remained - one of the critics called his vocal style "electric bleating", the other described it as a formula: Bob Dylan + Marc Bolan.
