A furious McDonald's customer sparked a two-hour stand-off with police after being asked to park up and wait for his breakfast to be cooked. Stuart Yates, 55, refused to move from the drive-thru window after staff asked him to wait in the car park for his two double sausage and egg McMuffins. He raged after being asked to wait 15 minutes for food on a previous visit and demanded a refund on the credit card he used to pay for the breakfast buns. But when staff offered him a cash refund, he threatened to 'hold up' the restaurant in Leyland, Lancs., for 'a week'. An angry Stuart fumed: “I said I’m not moving, I’m well within my rights asking for a refund to be put back onto my card. “They eventually gave me a refund and tried passing me a long letter they had typed out, but I refused to accept it. "I hadn’t sworn, I hadn’t done anything threatening. I hadn’t broken any laws.” The stalemate began at around 9.30am shortly after Stuart drove up to the restaurant and ordered the two Mcmuffins for his son and his friend. Fellow customers had to reverse out of the drive-thru lane after it was forced to close while he protested. Stuart claims he was offered a cash refund but when he requested the money on his credit card, a worker threw the cash onto his car roof and told him to leave. Stuart added: “A week ago I got made to wait in the car park for over 15 minutes. "A lad spotted me and said ‘oh, it’s him again’, because last time I complained. They said go and wait in the car park… I said ‘I’m not going anywhere until I get my food’. “A girl came out and threw my money and change onto my car roof and said ‘leave or I’m calling the police’. “I said I’m going nowhere until I’ve had my money put back on my card. It’s not a big ask, surely.” A staff member said: “We asked him to park up and he wouldn’t, so now he’s just sat there. “He only wanted a small order. It would have only taken a minute." Stuart finally left without the McMuffins after two hours following a visit from the police and ordered two Big Macs via Uber Eats when he got home. McDonald’s and Lancashire Police have been contacted for a comment.
