Evan Fournier Practice Interview | Celtics vs Nets

Evan Fournier was interviewed following Celtics practice on Monday. The team is currently preparing for game 2 and the Brooklyn Nets. When asked about the issues on offense, Fournier said “First of all their switching is kind of disruptive…the offense isn’t the same when the guys in front of you can switch one through five…I have to do a better job of maybe creating more actions, having more energy on the floor and just be more available…I’m going to try to do better things tomorrow night.”
Boston will have to make some necessary adjustments to come out with a win on Tuesday night. “I think it’s the same for every team,” said Fournier. “We did a good job on them with the switching… they have probably the best iso players in the world… me being new, yes, I mean it doesn’t help for sure… like I said it’s on me, I have to do a better job finding my rhythm.”
On his approach for this playoff run based on his experience, Fournier said “It’s very similar to what it is today, being the underdog…I do think that experience helps in the playoffs…you’re able to live in the moment better…every team is different.”
The Celtics and Fournier have been on and off offensively, and the veteran was asked why he thought the team had struggled with consistency. “Them being more aggressive on offense and scoring more baskets…didn’t help us offensively also…the offense and the defense is always connected...I didn’t feel like there was a particular matchup that we had more success with… we’re going to have to find offense within that [tomorrow].”
On the team’s mindset after a close game one loss, Fournier simply said “I think it’s kind of hard to say it’s a good experience when you lose…we should all be disappointed because it’s a loss, but you can always learn…you can learn from that, and watch it, and see why we weren’t good… that’s the point of playing through a playoff series, you learn from your mistakes…take the next game, make adjustments, and see where it goes…it went the way it went and we will do better from it.”
