Announcement: Beckmann Fragment - Die Schauspieler

Next Friday, 5.6.20, we will present a mime play in the more abstract spectrum of mime arts: "Beckmann Fragment - Die Schauspieler" deals with the interplay of visual and performing arts. It is a mime interpretation of Max Beckmann's triptych "Schauspieler" ("Actors") from 1942 (https://www.harvardartmuseums.org/art/300054 ). It is one of Beckmann's ten triptych.
The piece brings the atmosphere and the characters of the painting to life. In an equally fragmented way it expresses the essence of their being.
Katja Grahl is a mime artist living and working in Berlin. She acquired ample stage experience in variety theatre. After starting her eduction in mime and pantomime in Berlin, her art got strongly influenced in Decroux's mime corporel. There, the focus is on the art of the physical body, less on the story or setup. Due to these influences, her work is characterized by a special liveliness and colorfulness, and a high precision by her body work at the same time.
This provides her with the means for her interpretation of this expressionistic, symbolically rich and densely composed work.
