China is a wonderful country, but it can be a tricky country to navigate. There are a lot of new things to get used to like chopsticks, squatter toilets, people killing animals in crowded streets, more spitting than you have ever seen, hard beds and of course the language is a real challenge.
Culture shock is a real thing. When you can't communicate with people it's easy to get frustrated and start to feel nuts. I have literally seen other expats yelling at local people in restaurants and grocery stores because they cannot communicate with the people at all. I have to admit i met have said a few insulting things to a local person out of frustration because I knew they would not understand me.
When living in a new country you will experience many highs and many lows causing your emotions to be all over the plus. This is normal and the only way to adjust to a new country is to give yourself time, lots of time. Nobody said moving to a new country was going to be easy, but it is sure exciting.
