Sabudana vada, also called 'sago vada', is a traditional deep-fried snack from Maharashtra, India. In other parts of the country, Sabudana vada is the best option to have when fasting. It is best eaten fresh, and often served with spicy green chutney and coconut chutney,
Ingredients:
(Serves 2)
- 1 cup Sabudana/Sago(washed & soaked)
- 1 1/2 ts Green Chilli Paste
- 5-10 Curry Leaves
- 2 tbsp Coriander Leaves(chopped)
- 1/2 Lemon Juice
- 2 tsp Sugar
- Salt
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 3/4 cup Peanuts(coarsely ground)
- 4 Small Potatoes(boiled & mashed)
- Oil
- Oil for Frying
Method:
1. Add water to washed Sabudana and soak it for 3 hours
2. Now, add red chilli paste, curry leaves, chopped coriander leaves, lemon juice, sugar, and salt
3. Mix all the ingredients and mash the Sabudana
4. Now add cumin seeds, coarsely ground peanuts, boiled & mashed potatoes and mix all of it again, making sure potatoes are properly mixed with the other ingredients
5. Apply oil on your palms and take a small portion of the mixture, and make flat rounds
6. Add these flat round of the mixture into the hot oil, and fry them over a high flame
7. Once these vada turns golden brown, take them out and serve it with chutney or sweet curd
