No hazing in PNP training camps: spokesman

MANILA - A spokesman of the Philippine National Police on Friday said it is difficult for law enforcers to stop hazing activities. "Mahirap ang hazing kasi they come after the fact. They go to a private residence. It is done in clandestine ways," Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac, chief of the PNP public information office, said in an ANC interview. He said taking action after the fact is tough since the veil of secrecy surrounding the crime is difficult to penetrate. He cited the recent case of a hazing victim in UP wherein the parties involved refused to cooperate with the police. Sindac said hazing is not tolerable and is not done in PNP training institutions. "There is no hazing in our training camps and institutions as well as our service academies," he said. He said plebes are given physical challenges such as running and other exercises. "We ensure the safety of all trainees and cadets," he said. ANC HEADSTART, July 4, 2014
