Priest takes 3-day motorcycle trip for typhoon victims

MANILA – A priest from Eastern Samar took on a 3-day motorcycle trip in order to gather help for the victims of super typhoon "Yolanda" in Eastern Visayas. Fr. Edgar Abusejo, parish priest Barangay Matarinao in Salcedo, Eastern Samar, said he took the journey as transportation and communication in their area were not available. "Sinimulan ko nung Sunday after ng mass ko ng maaga. Pumunta ako sa Guiuan, nakita ko kung gaano kagrabe... ang sabi ko ituloy ko na ito hanggang Maynila dahil may communication blackout," he said. Abusejo hopes his journey and sacrifice would bear fruit. He is appealing for satellite phones and food aid for the famished survivors of the typhoon. - Umagang Kay Ganda, 13 November 2013
