During horse races, rebalancing each horse's chances of winning is necessary to make betting more interesting. Horses can be disabled in two different ways depending on the situation... 1. Flat races (obstacle-free galloping) and obstacle races The handicapper will therefore give the best horses extra weight by imposing cast iron or lead plates, slipped under the saddle. To determine the weight of the handicap, the handicapper will analyse the characteristics of each horse (previous results, behavior, age, sex) and that of the jockey (age, sex, experience). There can be up to 12kg difference between the favorite horse and the horse considered the weakest. 2. Trotting races The horses are spread over several lines. The best of them will have to travel a greater distance (between 25 and 75 meters more) than the others. The stronger a horse is, the more disabled it is. But it allows him to develop greater capacities when he will be without load after a failed race. He then becomes more competitive in the next race.
