The driver is the name given to a person who takes part in a harness trot race. Unlike a jockey, the driver sits on a sulky. The aim is to cross the finish line as quickly as possible without the horse starting to gallop or risk disqualification. Horses are assigned a race number. The highest are the horses that have won the most money. Autostart trotting races also assign to the draw a number indicating the place of the horse during the race. The number 1 is positioned at the rope, i.e. the closest to the center of the track. He has less distance to travel. In short distance races, the statistics clearly show an advantage for numbers 5, 6 and 7.
