Gujarati Handvo Recipe – Handvo is a baked dish made from various dals/lentils and rice, sesame seeds and spices. The batter is prepared from lentils and rice and is usually fermented overnight. This is a baked dish. Hence the Handvo batter is traditionally baked in a special steam cooker. It is also possible to prepare handvo in an oven. The handvo batter can also be used to make khatta dhokla, yet another famous Gujarati dish.
Handvo is one of the favorite Gujarati savory dish. You can use Handvo in dinner as well as in the breakfast.

Ingredients:
For Batter
2 cups Split Pigeon Peas
1 cup Small Yellow Lentils
1 cup Black Gram Lentils
1/2 cup Chickpeas

1 cup Carrot (grated)
1 cup Cabbage (grated)
Bottle Gourd (grated)
1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
Salt
Eno
1 tsp Sugar
3-4 Green Chillies (chopped)
Ginger (grated)
5-6 tbsp Oil
1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
5-7 Curry Leaves

Method: lets start with adding the Handvo Batter in the Bowl with Carrot (grated), Cabbage (grated), Bottle Gourd (grated). Next mix it together properly then add Red Chilli Powder, Turmeric Powder, Salt (as per your taste), Eno, Sugar, Green Chillies (chopped), Ginger (grated). Next prepare the Handvo for which heat up the Oil then add Mustard Seeds, Curry Leaves then pour the Batter into the pan. Next cook it in low flame for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes flip it over and let it cook for few minutes. Now your Gujarati Handvo is ready to serve.
