HEAVEN ON EARTH UP NORTH
On my way to a separated tango community in the North of the Netherlands, I send a message that I am looking forward to share a dance outdoors to
a tango teacher and a,
let me call it, common tango dancer.
The common tango dancer is already dancing when I arrive but soon it's my turn and after heavenly melting together, we decide to do another delicious tanda.
Talking to her husband later on, I look at a lady next to me and the moment I look away, she seems to look at me.
Unfortunately I look back again at the moment she looks away again.
But the moment I look away, she seems to look at me again.
So eventually our eyes meet and we find ourselves connected.
First in the conversation, then in the dance.
Thinking that it cannot get any better than what I just experienced, I'm pleasantly surprised by this lady that tells me she's just a beginner.
When I see a teacher looking away annoyed when we seem to be flying together, she confirms that this is her teacher.
I tell her about the Argentinian traditions that work against our personal skills.
The tango teacher I previously wrote, also arrives but I don't succeed in finding eye contact with her.
During a break I meet a woman that seems to be quite warm after dancing.
I walk up to meet and talk to her and she seems to be Argentinian.
As we can find each other well in the conversation, I decide to invite her to dance.
Exactly like I experienced in Buenos Aires, she moved by herself quite a lot, apologizing for losing the contact.
Admitting that in Argentina, the women expect the man to follow when he leads.
Then I see a gorgeous young lady dressed up like a moviestar that I saw dancing before with her boyfriend.
I already decided that I wasn't going to torture myself in refusing to follow her while I lead but her look was so inviting that I decided to take the chance.
She seemed to be from Sarajevo, Bosnia, and my expectation was right for the few parts that she did her own thing, but completely connected with me.
She miraculously was able to let herself fall into my arms, even if that meant that her head was almost touching the ground.
After a few tandas I delivered her back to her boyfriend who didn't seem too pleased though.
I feel so lucky when I’m able to enjoy all these other characters, without loosing myself.
