Xcorps Action Sports Show #44.)"PADDLEBOARD"-seg.5-
Xcorps cams zoom in on another cool niche sport born of the surfing world with a close up look at the water sport of open ocean PADDLEBOARDING featuring lone watermen stroking boards from Californias Catalina Island to the mainland-Manhattan Beach California- a distance of 32 miles!
Jason Lazo hosts this next Xcorps show, sponsored by PIPES CAFÉ and HAWAIIMANA NUTRITION, reporting from locations in Hawaii and California. Along with the California paddle boarders Jason talks to big wave tow in surfers Garrett McNamara and Keilli Mamala in Oahus North Shore. Great big wave video here featuring the two in action in Hawaii and Teahoopu Tahiti.
Paddle boarding events began with Tom Blake back in 1928 who raced a 120-pound board the 32 miles from Catalina to the mainland in just under 6 hours. In the early 1950s surfboard shapers Dale Velzy, Greg Knoll and Hobie Alter introduced a new era to the sport.
