The Karnataka government employees will get good news soon as the 6th Pay Commission headed by former IAS officer M R Srinivasa Murthy is set to recommend a 25 to 30 per cent hike. The recommendations will be submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today. This will benefit 6.2 lakh state government employees. The announcement will be made in the state budget next month. The state government employees had hoped that the hike would be in a range of 30 to 35 per cent. However the government has decided that the hike would be given, but in the range of 25 to 40 per cent. This move would cost the state exchequer Rs 10,800 crore. The last time the government employees got a hike was when D V Sadananda Gowda was the chief minister. He had given a hike of 22 per cent. Employees had expected a good hike in view of the upcoming assembly elections.
