Ingredients:-
1 cup Kaali masoor dal (Black Lentils)
1 tbsp. Ginger garlic paste
1 tsp. Salt, to taste
2 tbsp. Oil
1 tsp. Cumin seeds
2 Bay leaves
1 large tomato, finely chopped
2 green chillies, finely chopped
½ tsp. Garam masala
1 tsp. Coriander powder
1 tsp. Red chilli powder
1 tbsp. Coriander leaves, finely chopped
1 cup rice, cooked
Method:-
1. Wash the lentils and then cook them in a pressure cooker with 4 cups of water. Add salt and ginger-garlic paste to the dal and cook for three whistles.
2. Heat up the oil in a kadai and add bay leaves and cumin seeds.
3. When the cumin seeds start to change colour, add the tomatoes and cook until the oil separates.
4. Add the green chillies, garam masala, coriander powder, and red chilli powder and mix well.
5. Add cooked dal and water into the kadai and mix it with the tadka.
6. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
7. Serve hot with a garnish of coriander leaves over the top and warm rice.
