  • 8 лет назад
Ashford Castle is located in the west of Ireland, on the border of Counties Mayo and Galway, on the shores of picturesque Lough Corrib.

Ashford Castle was built in 1228 by representatives of the Anglo-Norman ancient clan Burke. Over 300 hundred years the family owned the castle de Burgh. By the end of the 16th century the castle changed several owners, completed and changes the appearance of the castle to your liking.

In 1852 the estate was bought by Sir Benjamin Guinness, a representative of the world-famous dynasty of brewers. The new owner has greatly expanded the estate area, added a few buildings in the Victorian style, built roads and planted several thousand trees.

Guinness family owned the estate until 1939. The new owner of Ashford Castle became Noel Haggard, it was he who transformed the medieval castle into a majestic hotel.

In May 2013 Ashford Castle once again got a new owner, it was a group of "Red Carnation Hotels". The new owners have invested a lot of money into the project: an extensive renovation undergone public spaces, number of rooms, the exterior of the castle and the famous gardens of Ashford Castle.
