His team was down, the opposition was in an imposing position and running away with the game with each passing over. The pair at the crease was Adam Voges, who is on a record breaking spree in his brief career and off-spinner Nathan Lyon. That was when skipper Brendon McCullum decided to pick up the ball himself and try to break the partnership. New Zealand desperately needed a wicket as the lead was already 55 runs.

Australia were 425/4 at that stage with Voges unbeaten on 38 while Lyon was batting on 30. We have not very often seen McCullum bowl; he bowls right-arm medium pace and started off with one that was pitched outside the off stump at 104 km/h to Lyon. The next ball was a perfect one just outside the off and the ball beat the outside edge, everyone had a smile on their face after watching the skipper bowl that accurately. He continued to impress with the third ball and even Lyon after playing the ball said well bowled.

McCullum now had a couple of slips in, to create some pressure; the next was down the leg side and Lyon exchanged the strike with Voges. A more accomplished batsman was at the strike and the bowler did even better and bowled a Yorker. He also got the pace up as it was an 113 km/hr delivery. The next and his last ball of the over was a back of the length delivery which Voges defended. The over went for just one run that towards leg-byes.
