FAIRFIELD CONNECTICUT — A Connecticut man brutally attacked his wife and three children the morning of Feb. 16 before he was fatally shot by police.
Christopher Andrews, 51, a lawyer with an office in Manhattan, inflicted severe stab and blunt force wounds to his wife Kathleen's face in their rental home at 22 Mount Laurel Road in Fairfield.
Next, he struck his 12-year-old son in the face and attacked his 13-year-old daughter, who ran to a neighboring home and called 911. Andrews then tried to hit his 15-year-old son with a baseball bat, but the teen was able to wrestle the bat away from and escape his father.
When the first officer arrived at about 6 a.m., he was approached by the teen holding the bat and then Andrews armed with a knife.
Andrews refused to obey commands to stop walking toward police officers, at one point lunging at them, and was fatally shot.
Christopher Andrews was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His wife, Kathleen Andrews, was also taken there and was last listed in critical condition. The younger son was flown to Yale-New Haven Hospital with critical injuries. The two other children were taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.
According to police, the Andrews have no history of domestic violence. Officials are continuing their investigation.
