HERRIMAN, UTAH — Law enforcement officials are perplexed by a recent stabbing involving two teenage friends, a samurai sword and a sleepover.

Two boys were reportedly having a seemingly normal sleepover in the town of Herriman, Utah. But early Saturday morning the 17-year-old guest allegedly stabbed his friend all the way through the stomach with a samurai sword.

Police say the victim's father rushed to help his son and fought with the the teen suspect. A responding officer soon arrived, but even with his Taser, the two men couldn't subdue the attacker, reported Fox 13 Salt Lake City.

Firefighters converged on the scene and joined the fray as well, ultimately helping to subdue the teen suspect.

Police reckon the suspect was having a "psychotic episode," which may have been caused by narcotics. According to Fox 13 Salt Lake City, his victim remains in the hospital, where he is in stable condition.
