A lion in Colorado is recovering after a 3.8 pound hairball was removed from his stomach.
Arthur, an 11-year-old lion at The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado, recently underwent surgery to remove a huge hairball lodged in his stomach.
According to a Facebook post by the sanctuary, while domesticated cats commonly get hairballs, such a massive bundle of fur embedded in the abdominals is rare in lions. Due to their size, the hair typically passes through their systems without incident.
But the luxuriously large nature of Arthur's mane proved a bit too much, leading to a hairball, which made it difficult to eat and digest food.
