This Snake Has Given Birth Multiple Times Without A Male

A yellow-bellied watersnake at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center is believed to have given birth multiple times without the contribution of a male.

There are many female reptiles in the world that have been known to reproduce without the contribution of a male, but yellow-bellied watersnakes aren’t typically regarded as one of them. 
One such creature at the Missouri Department of Conservation's Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center, however, is believed to have done so twice.
The feat is called parthenogenesis and can occur in animals living both in captivity and the wild.
