Scientists are currently exploring the possibility of using DNA as a means of data storage.

Hard drives can hold terabytes of content, but unfortunately their lifespan only lasts a few decades. 

DNA, on the other hand, can theoretically safeguard hundreds of thousands of times more information, and do so for millennia. 

Scientists are currently exploring the possibility of using DNA for data storage. 

Swiss researchers tested the viability of DNA by filling some of it with text. Experiments were then conducted to learn how long the matter would hold onto it. 

Trials included encasing some in silica spheres
