Are bananas going EXTINCT?!? We're here to tell you that bananas are pretty much boned, you guys. And not by boner spiders, as we covered in a previous episode (https://goo.gl/Ykrvj6). Nope, this time, bananas are getting screwed by a fungus that’s taking over the (banana farming) world!

The banana as we know it today may be extinct in the not-too-distant future. This happened to the banana industry once before, when the Gros Michel died off in the 1960s, replaced by today’s Cavendish Banana. But this time, we may be in even bigger trouble, as no one’s got a good idea of a ready substitute, and the banana-killing TR4 mold is working its way across plantations throughout the world.

There are thousands of banana varieties, but a lot of them are inedible or not easy to transport. You can read more about this banana crisis over here: http://goo.gl/85kxmo

Are you a huge banana fan? What will you do if the Cavendish becomes extinct? Have you heard other serious food news you think we should talk about on the show?
