Honduras: Faced With Corruption Scandal, Gov't Proposes Na'tl Dialogue

After a month of growing protests demanding the resignation of Honduran President Juan Hernandez, accused of involvement in a multi-million dollar corruption scandal, the government responded by proposing a national dialogue open to all of the country's political and social forces. Many feel that the move is a desperate attempt on the part of the government to recover some of its much weakened credibility and relieve the pressure it's facing. Opposition sectors, however, feel it is not the time for dialogue but rather to continue the protests and press ahead with the demand for the formation of an International Anti-Impunity Commission.
