Like bananas? Hate spiders? Congratulations - you’re hardly unique among humans. And if you like boners, you’re hardly unique either. What IS unique is when spiders, bananas and boners come together, as in this week’s story.

Seems there’s a spider called the Brazilian Wandering Spider that can kill you with its bite, but before that happens, they can cause an erection lasting longer than four hours. These spiders burrow in bananas during the day, which sounds cute, but since they’re super deadly, it’s less cute.

The chemicals involved are so powerful, scientists are studying Wandering Spider venom as a potential treatment for Erectile Dysfunction. Because just like using botulism for Botox, there’s noting so deadly it can’t be used to cure vanity.

Usually these Wandering Banana spiders are only a threat to people who live in and around banana plantations, but a number of cases of spider-nest infested bananas have made it overseas.
