A baby hippopotamus was recently born at the San Diego Zoo. As a way to announce the birth, the facility shared footage of the new arrival swimming with its mother on Facebook.

A baby hippopotamus was recently born at the San Diego Zoo. As a way to announce the birth, the facility shared footage of the new arrival swimming with its mother on Facebook. 
At this time it's unclear if the hippo is a boy or a girl, as it's too soon to determine the gender. Zookeepers are monitoring the calf and mother and say that it has nursed a number of times.
